I find this on a Chinese sports website--

S & Z were practicing their new LP in front of the press for the first time in Beijing. The music they use is from a Hong Kong movie "Sung Dynasty" (or Sung Sisters).
What are your thoughts on their new LP?

I have this soundtrack on cd, if this is the same film- the name of the film is the same at least. The music was composed and performed by Kitaro. It's gorgeous music and I have often thought it would be perfect for skating.

Saw them at pairs practice today at Skate Canada and LOVED it! I can definitely see this program as a gold medal winner and am actually wondering if they will keep it for next season as well.
As I said on the Pairs thread, I like this program alot.
Even this early in the season.

I loved S&Z's new LP last night, too. It was a little rough around the edges and very different from last year's Nutcracker program, but I thought it really suited them and it might be my favourite program of theirs ever after the rough edges are smoothed out. As wonderfully as they've been able to pull off slower, more romantic programs like the Nutcracker, I've always wanted to see them use more dramatic, powerful music for their LP again, and this definitely fits the bill! :)

I've yet to see their LP, but these reviews are very promising.
I've always thought that skating to European classical music doesn't really allow them to bring out their natural charisma. Trying to force themselves into the European mould just doesn't fit exactly right.
Maybe I'm in the minority, but last year's Nutcracker did nothing for me. I've been hoping that they'll find a very good piece of music that has an Asian musical undertone to it, so that they can skate and show their natural charisma. Ideally, I was hoping for the Heaven and Earth sdtk., also by Kitaro. I haven't heard the music from Sung Dynasty, but I'm sure it's very good as well.

The program is undoubtedly excellent ... but I have to say that I personally don't enjoy it as much as their previous LPs. However that's just a matter of personal taste, and doesn't take away from the indisputable strenghts of the program and their execution of it.

Me too - going back to the old FSW days! Remember our post-2001 Worlds discussions? They've come such a long way since then. :) The Soong sisters is nice but having it be by Kitaro does make me wish they'd gone with H&E instead...so close yet so far, oh well.
