ESPN Classic Canada's Annyoing Crawl!!!

Whom do I write to at ESPN Classic Canada to complain about their obtrusive bottom crawl on the screen.

I was planning on mellowing out this evening by watching the 1997 Worlds highlights on ESPN Classic Canada.

But for the 4th week in a row, they're running this most annoying crawl over top of the bottom 10 percent of the picture! :evil:

It wouldn't be so bad if there was anything even remotely useful in there, but they're just promoing upcoming events and giving you a number to subscribe! I know a lot of other channels do crawls, but because this one is actually obliterating the picture, it's really quite annoying.

Actually, it is getting beyond annoying! There not even squeezing the picture, they're just overlaying it on top which means the bottom part of the picture is effectively cut off! And to think that I'm actually paying for this channel. I just might have to do something about that!

I just need to vent off some steam.

I've noticed that as well. You might want to email Debbi Wilkes and she will personally pass your comments on to the right people. I've done that before - to thank them for the programming when it began - and I got a nice response from Debbi and some network execs... The other thing - I had email Debbi over a month ago asking if there would be any new broadcasts this year. She said that at the time, she was not aware they were planning anything new. I've been meaning to reply and ask if that had changed. If anyone knows anything, I would be very interested...

I've written them a brief and polite note on the subject. I'll report back if I get a response.

The biggest problem really is that since most of the content on this channel was created before crawls were common, the crawls become problematic because they obliterate part of the picture.

Contrast this with ESPN programming in the U.S. and TSN programming where there is a crawl but it's much less obtrusive and the content is shot with a crawl in mind. The net effect is less distracting.

As I'm writing this, I just got an e-mail autoreply (actually titled "Out of Office AutoReply") basically informing me that I may not get a personal response but "All emails, however, are
read and all concerns are forwarded to TSN's senior management"

Somehow, I'm not optimistic.

An update:

For the last two weeks, there has been no annoying crawl. Looks like it's gone. Hopefully, for good. (well at least until I can capture the old skating shows digitally on DVD :))
