What do you people think of Michael Weiss's costume?

=-0 ! I could be biased because I dislike this skater.

He's got the name of his wife and kids "tattooed" onto that costume...JUST IN CASE anyone forgets Michael Weiss is straight, and has a marriage and children to prove it.

What the heck is he skating to, anyway? That costume is a farce. Kind of like Michael Weiss himself, so I suppose it's well-suited.

I don't think his wife is a very good choreographer...
...oh wait. I don't think he is a very good skate too...
...oh yea, and he had a bad costume...

It fits.

He's skating to Led Zeppelin.

He is possibly the most ridiculous thing on skates. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Sorry, but I love this guy. I love his costume, his choreography, his music. Couldn't find anything I didn't like. (Plus, he's cute to boot!)

I can't help but like the guy either! To clarify a little further on his music, it was Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, which I also happen to like. 8-)

Actually I thought the tattoos would have worked if he had kept that vest on he had during the kiss and cry, or a vest similar to it. The full-on no shirt look looked weird, it made him look disproportionate on the ice. I liked the music he picked FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. Didn't like the program, though, which was pretty much just crossovers IMHO. At least he blended those highlights a little better and the skunk look has waned.

I never liked this guy, I think his skating belongs on the pro circuit. But, if he wants another go at the Olys...good luck to him. I just wish they'd outlaw that stupid Freedom blade spread eagle, it requires next to no skill anyway...let's see a real spread eagle, Weiss. Or do a Bonaly and give us a TORNADO at the Olys.

PS: With the Jahnkes and the Weirs and Lysaseks, does anyone think Weiss will get sent to the Olys, or no? Cause I don't think he should be, but then again he's got a decent competition track record, better than most of the above mentioned, in a long-run kinda scenario. So he could be a choice.

Liked the idea of the costume and love the music, Stairway to Heaven.
I thought the idea of having personal touches included like the names of his children and his wife is realy sweet and nothing to "hide".
Why shouldnt he be a proud husband and father?
Proud loving parents always have little reminders of their family in places that are unexpected. Very sweet.
The pants needed to be more sleek.
Hated Ryan Jahnke's costume...but love his skating. Very unoriginal music selection though and ugly costume..

I'm generally lukewarm towards Weiss, but I like this costume, music and program the best of any of his so far.

I liked the costume top, although the pants seemed too dark and stiff. Liked the music -- it suited him. I haven't seen Michael Weiss skate to music so appropriate to his style since the mid-90s.

Think Ryan Jahnke deserved a much better costume. Loved his choreography, and Ryan's skating is to die for.

I tho't Mike's costume was very original & thank goodness! he didn't have any rags hanging off of it. Hate the drapery, rag look on both men & women. I didn't care for the neck on Jahnke's top but otherwise it wasn't too bad. I loved his choreography & IMO his & Sandhu's are the best choreographed programs that I have seen so far this season.

I thought Ryan's skating outfit was worse than Mike's. I have a feeling that Tom Dickson had a lot of input on Ryan's outfit.

I was 8O at Mike's costumes, until I found out what the music was. Then it fit. I like this program a lot - way more than last year's - because he obviously thinks it's fun to skate.

IMO, Janke could skate his program in a paper bag and be wonderful. I think it's one of his best programs yet.

The full-on no shirt look looked weird, it made him look disproportionate on the ice.

I had a hard time watching his (MIKE) skate bc, IMO , he looked like a booblehead--enormous head on a tiny body.

Is Ryan Jahnke married? They showed a pic of him with his left hand and he had a ring on his ring finger I thought.

Yep, he's happily married to Tashiana Foreman whom he married about 1 1/2 years ago.

Yay for Ryan on his silver medal!!!

And boo for Mike Weiss on his costume and poor sportsmanship. Sorry, I can't stand this guy

I thought Mike's costume was cool, but was wondering why he had his name on the front lol. So he can remember who he is? Looked like he was wearing jeans. I liked Janke's program too, I didn't know he was married. He's a cutie! :D

I have never liked Weiss, but I really enjoyed this program & I think the costume fits the music, although I agree w/ the poster who said the pants need to be sleeker.

OT, I think that under COP we are seeing much more interesting choreography, a lot more in-betweens, esp. from the men. I don't usually pay much attention to the men & this time I watched it straight through because the programs were actually interesting!

Led Zepplin is not my cup of tea, but I respected the sincerety and the artistry of his costume.

He is a wonderful skater, not a great one. His 3 axel scares me.

There is nothing wrong with being straight and loving your wife and kids. And, what people did when they were kids should not be held against them; kids have undeveloped brains and in any case, are mostly influenced by thier parents when it comes to social and political issues.

Just a thought on the shirt...it is suppose to be tatoos right. Well, many people - men & women - have tatoos with names of their girlfriend, mother, wife, kids, husband, friend, dog, cat, car, hobby, etc. It would have been more unrealistic for a "tatoo" shirt to not have the names of those he loves. Just look at all the celebrities that get tatoo's. Most we see are with the names of their significant others at the time. (i.e. Rosanne, Angelina Jolie etc.)

I think Mike's costume concept was original and bold if not entirely flattering.
The skill and artistry that went into that piece of "tatooed" mesh, the costumers craft that put it together to mask seams. and the fact that Mike obviously worked on his body to have the confidence to wear the thing all get my respect. We already have enough baggy, drapey shirts, or vests with rolled up sleeves, or overproduced re-creations of ships etc. Even if full-body tats give a lot of people the creeps, creative thinking is good for this sport.

I'm with those who thought that the pants on Mike's outfit made him look "unbalanced". Fix that, and I think the outfit is fine. I'm not a big fan of all of the torn/dangly things look at all.

As for the music - I've been hoping he'd get away from the classical music. I still think that his skate to Santana is the best thing he's ever done.

Exactly! A tatoo usually reflects elements of a personal nature. I have no idea why skating fans would object to Weiss mentioning those authentic details of his costume.
Likewise, 2 years ago Ryan Jahnke spoke about his Cinderella program being a tribute to his wife. He proposed to her with that theme in mind .
It is nice to see Weiss try something totally original. He has a great upper body and a nice musclar, masculine physique, so it worked well for him.
I would like the pants less chunky looking though.

In the interview he said he skated to classical....????
Even my son, who only watches skating occasionally said...isn't he the same one who skated to Van Halen and other bands?

Said son also said OMG what was he thinking....now mind you this is someone who sees tatoos every day at school, work and in other sports.

Guess I have to think it was to prove, well just prove he is a tough guy.

And Lisa needs to find some new creative programs...boring....same ole, same ole.

I think each skater should skate programs that fit his or her own style and personality. Personally, I was hugely relieved to see Michael Weiss finally skate a program that fit his own style, i.e., skating to something that was rock n roll and a little unique rather than just forcing himself to conform to some rigid "classical" style for the judges. Seeing him so at home in his program made me like him so much more as a skater! Besides, if I see one more uptight "military" themed program and costume from the men, I think I will hurl!

Yea, but have you ever seen anyone with their OWN name tattooed across their chest like a giant billboard?

Can't we lighten up on the shirt just a little. It was a theme costume!! One of the Senior men in the SWP region skated to a really cool Spiderman themed program last week. He wore a costume that was part Spiderman and part New York City. Guess what? It worked. I hope he didn't get personally attacked for having a big black spider on his chest!

mikey, you hit the nail on the head exactly - having "Michael Weiss" printed on the front of his shirt was absurd. But maybe he has a hard time recognizing himself in the mirror these days, what with the hair coloring, and the balding regions...

I just think it is rare to find a great men's costume.
Johnny Weir was criticized for being a grown man wearing glittering "icicles" across his rear("too sissy"),
Todd always had boring costumes that looked the same year after year("too plain"),
and Weiss often chooses costumes that show off his buff body("too manly").

I think my favorite in the men was Yagudin's Man in the Iron Mask costume; that was sleek, masculine, evocative, and original.

yes, most of todays rappers have their own names tattoo on themselves. Also the most famous self tattoo I can think of is Ozzy who has his name tattooed on his fingers.

Yes....for people who are narcissists.

Actually I think the shirt would look better if the "tatoo" coloring was a bit darker to make the designs pop out more. Not my favorite shirt, but I would rather see streamline outfit like what Mikey is wearing this year than the frou-frou stuff on Weir or the overdone accessories on Joubert's.
