Michael Weiss and SOI

I just read on the SOI web site that Michael Weiss will be doing some guest appearances. I am confused, won't he lose his status as an eligible skater? I thought Todd tried that and the USFSA would not allow him to stay eligible. Does anyone know?

A skater can ask permission of the USFSA to skate in a non-sanctioned event or show. Looks like he got the okay.

For about the umpteenth time, Todd didn't lose his eligibility by skating with SOI -- he lost his eligibility by skating in a pro competition last year. His dispute with the USFSA in the fall of 2002 was over his wanting to remain under contract to do cheesefests without competing at Nationals or Worlds. The USFSA politely told him to forget about that idea, and Todd decided he would rather tour with SOI full-time than come back to compete again. Touring with SOI by itself was not a problem as far as his eligibility was concerned.
