SC - changes to ladies line-up

In the Ladies lineup for Canada Annie Bellemare has been replaced with Mira Leung. Some CDN fans (including myself) were wondering why Leung didn't get any GP assignments--Senior or Junior--when she clearly has potential. I had begun to wonder if she was an alternate for the Senior events. It's too bad that it's at the cost of Bellemare though.

Alot of Cdn posters have wondered why Mira Leung wasn't given a Senior GP assignment. Don't know, can't answer that.

Three things came to mind though as soon as I heard that Annie Bellmare was injured. 1) Joanne McLeod is the coach for BOTH Annie and Mira. 2) if anyone would be in a position to truly know whether Annie would be ready to compete at SC or not, it would be Joanne McLeod. 3) if Mira was offered JGP assignments, and Joanne was hedging that Annie wouldn't be ready to go, Joanne/Mira would have to turn down the JGP inorder to be in a position to accept any Senior Grand Prix opportunities ... such as Annie withdrawing from Skate Canada. AFAIK, only PAIRS can compete in both the JGP and SGP streams at the same time, everyone else has to be in one stream or the other.

Looks like a little patience and inside info (like Martha Stewart ;) ) paid off for Mira.

Yay! I'm sorry to hear about Annie's injury and hope she recovers ASAP, but what a wonderful opportunity for Mira! I hope she makes the most of it! :D

Looking forward to Mira getting a chance. I am one who wants the older ones to step aside and give the young ones a chance.
