:?: Has anyone heard what NNN is up to? Has she given up all together because of injuries?

No, I don't think she's given up, but the treatment she had for her injury (the surgery) is relatively new, so they're still figuring out recovery times. I suppose hers was particularly bad, because the times vary anywhere from two months to over two years.

Naomi Nari Nam made a comeback last season, placing well at summer club competitions and winning the SW Pacific Regional title in October 2003, but then she was 5th at Pacific Coast Sectionals in November (top 4 qualified for 2004 Nationals). If she wants to qualify for 2005 Nationals, she will have to start again by competing at SW Pacific Regionals, October 12-17, in Burbank, CA.

I really miss Naomi. I hope she can make a come back. She was really awesome. I was rooting for her to make it to nationals again last season.

Thanks - I was hoping to see her back on the scene, as she made her debut so to speak at about the same time as Sasha Cohen. It would have been interesting to see how the competition would stack up between the two of them.

Sasha was a level behind Naomi most of the way up the ranks, but they did compete against each other at the 2000 nationals (not that you can really gauge anything by one competition). At nationals the year before that, when Naomi was second in seniors and Sasha was second in juniors, I remember seeing the two of them hanging out together all week, apparently very good friends at the time. I have to admit I, too, was pretty interested in seeing what would happen when Sasha made it to seniors. Too bad Naomi wasn't competitive much long after that--I had doubts about her technique, but she was a lot of fun to watch.

It's been reported at FSU that Nam is not one of the 18 senior ladies registered for SW Pacific Regionals this year. I don't know if this means she has retired from competitive skating or is injured and still hopes to continue skating.

If she won Regionals last year, doesn't she have a bye through Regionals to Sectionals? (Or am I making up rules again?)

No, only Sectionals winners have the option of taking a bye through Regionals the following year (as long as they are competing at the same level as last season).

So does this mean that she may still be in for next season?

Next season? I'm not sure anyone knows the answer to that one yet...

Well I guess it is the current season now technically.
