In the Tie Breaker collumn what does TOM stand for?
The USFSA still uses the majority ordinal accounting system, and not OBO, for its domestic competitions. TOM stands for "Total Ordinals of Majority."
As an example...
SENIOR FREE DANCE
2. Ariane Morin, CPA Boisbriand
Simon Roberge, CPA Brossard 2 2 5 4 2 4 3 3 1 6/3 TOM 13
3. Kate Slattery, UDFSC
Chun-Gun Lee, UDFSC 5 3 3 2 3 3 5 4 3 6/3 TOM 17
M/R and S/L tied with a majority of 6 third place (or higher) ordinals (6/3). The tiebreaker involves adding up the 6 "majority ordinals" with the lower total winning. M/R's 2+2+2+3+3+1=13 is lower than S/L's 3+3+2+3+3+3=17, so M/R wins the tiebreak for 2nd place.
FYI, Daphne is posting her Lake Placid reports and links to Michelle Wojdyla's photos on her ice-dance.com message board at:
