I also doubt that they read these boards. However, some skaters have fan boards that they do read (sometimes, I guess, when they're not working their butts off) -- and sometimes they will post things also.

So if I were you I would do a search of fan clubs (boards) for the skaters you like and post there. You will find like-minded fans and probably have fun with it!

Hmmm..... Some :halo: told me lately that quite a lot skaters read certain general figure skating boards. No idea how often they post - but I'd say 99% don't post (if at all) under their real name. Maybe it would be better to have that in mind when writing posts here. No problem with criticism, but sometimes people go too far imho. On the other hand I'm sure there are skaters who find some posts here really funny....

At one stage Steven Cousins posted a few times on RSSIR and offered to give advice and answer questions. As I recall he got pounced on by posters who didn't think that he could possibly understand skating from an adult beginner standpoint and he didn't reappear.

Ilia Kulik once posted on a board I posted at...I didn't believe it was him, but later I learned it was.

I don't think its a great idea for skaters to post by their own names, except on those occasions when they wish to perhaps thank or acknowledge their fans (Irina and MK on thier respective fan boards) or something unusual and special like Sasha thanking her fans on her website for a gift.

Its great when anyone posts, but I would hate to see any skater treated the way some posters are treated by some. For instance, if I knew a poster was Ilia, and someone were bashing him, I think I would go ballistic! It was bad enough when I knew that he read forums!

And the people who clearly hate some skaters would not be initimidated to bash them by knowing they are present. Even if Yagudin himself said that Plushenko did not cheat his quads (IMHO Plushy sticks most of them) that would not change those who believe he does.

For the skaters, its tough enough to skate and deal with the media and the public without dealing with the on-line "community" as well in a public way.
