Hi everyone,

At the end of the season earlier this year, there were some rumours floating around that Emanuel and his coach Joanne McCleod were parting ways. Do any of you have any updates on this? As much as I admire Joanne McCleod, I think she's done all she can do for Emanuel. At this point he would benefit so much from a coaching change. Wouldn't it be awesome if Elvis Stojko would agree to work with Emanual to improve his mental game? Could you imagine what a skating force Emanuel would become?

I heard (but I can't remember where) that they were going to give it one more year.

What an interesting idea! I think Elvis could help Emanuel a lot. He's got all the goods, just can't deliver on a consistent basis. Does anyone know if Eman is working with a sports pyschologist? I look forward to seeing Eman next season, hopefully he'll improve on last year. He showed signs of greatness....

I don't think it would work; from my observations, the 2 don't really seem to get along so well. I think it would work better if he were to work with Kurt though.

I can't imagine two skaters more different from each other (in terms of skating style, personality and approach to competition) than Elvis and Emanuel! I don't know how well they actually get along off the ice, but I'm afraid the two of them would just be too different from each other to work well together in a professional sense! 8O

And as much as I love Kurt, I can't really picture him and Emanuel working together, either. Although they're both really artistic, entertaining skaters in their own way, I can't imagine their two styles being able to blend together easily. Somehow, I picture Kurt as being a better fit for Jeff Buttle for some reason. :)

I think the best fit for Emanuel in terms of working with a former Canadian champion would be Toller Cranston (does anyone know if he's still coaching/choreographing?), but I'm afraid those two would probably be too much alike to work well together!

And while we're throwing out names of former Canadian champions, how about Brian Orser? He's had experience with choreography, he seems to have a really calm personality, and he's also had trouble delivering the goods in competition (among other problems) over the years. I think Brian could have a real calming influence on Emanuel's personality if the two of them were to work together...and that may be what Emanuel needs most of all at this stage in his career.

The last that I heard of Toller he was living in Mexico & concentrating on his painting & writing. I do think, tho, that Brian Orser would be a good match for EMan.

When I suggested that Elvis and Emanuel work together, I didn't mean that Elvis should do choreography for Emanuel. I meant that he should teach Emanuel some strategies to keep his nerves in control; to teach Emanuel that mental toughness that he's become legendary for. I think that as far as getting help with choreography, Emanuel should work with Sasha Zulin. What do you think??

No change for Eman
Joanne is the only one
He could never change

Maybe that is true.
Maybe Joanne is the one.
But, Elvis is King.
