Someone on SkateFans posted a translation of a recent interview with Tarasova in which she (Tarasova) indicates that she will be working with Sasha Cohen this year. That should prove VERY interesting.

I was surprised to read that Alexei's plans thus far will be to skate the Grand Prix and not Europeans and Worlds. You would think it would be the other way around.

That was an interesting interview. She's really something. However, in listing all her teams/students, she didn't mention anything about working with Naomi and Peter. I thought she was now their coach/choreographer. :?:

"She didn't ask me yet. Sasha Cohen came to me with her coach John Nicks to work on the program. Even more, we agreed she will come once in three weeks, like for a sort of internship (** practice? **)
- What do you think about that girl?
- She has an unbelievable talent, very rare and inhuman talent. Sasha is still a teenager and she gets tired from adult emotions and pressure."

I LOVE it, on at least 4 levels.

What a grand diva Tarasova is. I love her so much, I even read through her attacks on Ilia Kulik, and didn't dislike her for them, although I disagreed;

I'm so glad Nicks and Sasha are smart enough to seek her assistance;

Nice to hear her assessment of Sasha's talent, which conforms with mine, although I'm sure Tarasova knows a bizillion times more than I do;

Interesting comment...I'd say its positive, since Sasha being a teenager works for her, not against her.

Me too! I was really hoping for Sasha's sake that she sought out a skilled choreographer for next season. I'd say Sasha and Nicks went with one of the best in the Biz (if not the best). It will be very exciting to see what Tarasova comes up with.

I'm disappointed to hear Alexei's plan for selfish reasons. He won't be at Worlds :( and I will be. I'm sure it will still be wonderful, but the "Plushenko - Yagudin" rivalry won't be part of the drama. Shucks!

That's great for Sasha's growth for this season, certainly won't hurt! I also thought I had heard that Naomi and Peter were switching to Tarasova this season, maybe they just didn't want it announced yet? That will be awesome if that is true...but geez Tarasova has a lot of skaters in her stable now. I guess Morozov and Usova are working with the dance teams more. I also found her comments about Yagudin interesting about him being unrecognizable since the Olympics...I mean the guy was already great, he's gotten that much better? The touring thing really seems to help rather than hinder a lot of these skaters. I guess he won't be at Worlds because of SOI? And she seems to definitely be planning for him to be around for 2006 LOL...that would be something if he is still competitive then.

Well, since Alexei's going to be touring with SOI next season, it would be much easier for him to compete in the GP events (which are held before the tour goes on the road and he can schedule around rehearsals) than it will be for him to appear in Europeans and Worlds (which take place right in the middle of the tour and somehow, I didn't think he'd be able to take a week or two off SOI to appear at those events--not to mention the comparitively little amount of practice time he'd be able to get at SOI practices!)

Good for Sasha! Now if she could only work on getting her triples consistent......it'll be an interesting season.

Hi Nits:

I think Sasha's triples are pretty consistent; so is her lutz/2 tl combo and her flip/2 tl combo. Its her 3/3 that is not consistent...and she probably doesn't need it except against Irina or Sarah with two 3/3s.

Working with this coach will only add to her arsenal. It should prove to be very interesting. I think that this is a smart move on her part. Can't wait to see the result!

Well, now I'm really upset! My first Worlds and my favourite skater won't be there. I was looking forward to seeing the Plushenko/Yagudin rivalry live and in person! This news, on top of the news that there is a possibility that Michelle Kwan won't be there, has me really disappointed.

I'm not Michelle's biggest fan, but I find that I really gain new respect for many skaters once I see them live, and I know that would have been the case with Michelle. On the other hand, I've seen Yags live twice, and I just want MORE, MORE MORE :wink:

As for Sasha, I'm intrigued! I just can't wait to see what the team comes up with!!
