I really think Evy Scotvold needs to be MUCH more understanding. Jenny has a hard year and him going around saying that she does not have motivation, I am sure, does not help her.

She needs a change. A new coach and choreographer may really help her out. Evy just doesn't seem to understand that she could probably do better with someone else.

It just makes me extremely mad to see his coldness and anger towards Jenny when what she needs is a change. I would have left him just for that attitude alone. :x

Evy Scotvold has never been perceived by me as a very warm, nice guy. I know he and Mary have done wonders with some skaters in the past, but I have to question Evy's harsh attitudes towards his skaters.

We've all heard the infamous stories of his battles with Nancy. I sometimes wonder how Paul endured it all those years, but perhaps Evy doesn't take out his aggression on the male skaters as much as the female ones.

I have a fluff piece done on the Scotvolds back around 1994, and Evy was commenting about training girls. He made mention of the fact that they train hard, but then they "grow up, get a boyfriend, get fat", and other things he felt took them away from their goals. Just the way he said "get FAT" and knowing his strictness towards his skaters regarding their weight - well, I just think he may be more harsh than he needs to be.

Sometimes that harshness pays off, tho. It helped Paul in Albertville, when he started the week with bad practices and ended up with great practices and a great result. In between that time Paul and Evy had a rather heated exchange to which Evy attributed Paul's improvement. Evy said that's the way his hockey coach dad treated him, so that's how he sometimes treats his skaters.

Well, anyway, I think this move is a good one for Jenny. Evy and Mary are good coaches and good choreographers, but we don't need yet another skater to become a 'same old same old' performer.

Probably the one regret that I had about Paul's career is that he rarely used other choreographers. The one season he did was when Lar Lubovich choreographed the brilliant Bach and "Touch Me" programs for Paul. I wish Paul had used Lubovich for his last season, too.
