I have typed up my reports on Jr. ladies free skate, which you can read at the above link. I also have reports on the interm. and novice events on the website. Thanks for looking!

Just realized I posted this in the Cherry Blossom senior ladies' thread, so I'm reposting it here.
I thought Emily Hughes skated VERY well for April (she won a "Young International" junior competition in Finland earlier this month), but I didn't feel she won last Saturday's Junior FS at Cherry Blossom in a walkover. Her best jumps were the triple salchow and the double axel (the second axel was in sequence with a 2flip). She had a wide swinging free leg on the landing of her opening 3lutz (outside edge takeoff) and tacked on a 2toe after a pause and then hung on to an off-balance 3flip. Her two falls were on a 3loop that looked underrotated and a 3toe that she looked like she basically had. She's developing into a very powerful skater, and took 7 of the 9 1st place ordinals in the Junior Ladies FS:

The top 7 junior ladies all displayed many good qualities in their skating. My favorite choreographed program of the weekend was Caroline Miller's (I found out afterwards that this Spanish-flavored long program was choreographed by Tom Dickson), and she landed a nice 3salchow, 3loop, and 2axel while showing off her musicality and full body movements. Anna Peng displayed her usual wonderful stretch, extension, and edge control in her Vivaldi program, and landed a 2axel, two 3salchows, and 3toe (she popped a 3lutz attempt) --very nice comeback after missing all of last season due to a foot injury. Teresa Lin's "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" program included a 3lutz (slightly two-footed?), 3flip, 3toe-2toe, and 2axel. I liked that Jessica Lynn Richards' "Much Ado About Nothing" program had some of the lesser-used music cuts, and after beginning with a really nice and fast flying camel spin, she reeled off three 2axels, including a solo one with good height, and a 2axel to 2axel-2loop sequence. Kristin Zinsmeister skated to fast classical music and attempted up to 3flip (she appears to be underrotating less than she used to), and Erika Choi Smith's "Swan Lake" from last year featured two nice double axels, an off-balance 3salchow, and a 3flip with a 3turn out.
