Hi all-
I spent Saturday at the Mt. Vernon rink in Alexandria, VA, watching most of the events all day. I particularly enjoyed watching Emily Hughes in Jrs., Stephanie Roth (previously I'd only read about her on the net), and Ami Parekh in Srs. Here's a link to my report:

Thanks for the nice report.

I saw only your senior ladies report, do you have any details on Emily Hughes?

Hi, Roma,
Things have been busy w/work, but I'll try to type up my other notes later today. Emily Hughes was GREAT! She was leaps ahead of her competitors-extremely fast, great spirals, big jumps; she should be in seniors. She looks so much like Sarah. We can probably expect her to be at Nationals next year!

Okay, I've typed up reports on some of the Intermediate and Novice ladies, plus Novice men's final. Please go to www.asianathlete.com and look for the reports under the News section (in the middle of the screen). Other reports on the juniors and sr. men will show up by late tonight! :)

Skatingatty, thank you for the details. I saw her 2 years ago, I think at sectionals, and she was great. It sounds like there were some really good skaters in juniors - Erika Choi Smith and Anna Peng are 2 very good ones whom I've seen before.

It must have been such a treat to see such a good competition this time of year!

Roma-
I'd never heard of Erika before, but I had read about Anna Peng on the internet. It was nice seeing them skate too. They both have such quality in their basic skating. Emily Hughes though-- she was in a class by herself at this competition. Though the bleachers were uncomfortable, I had a wonderful time watching the event. Next time, I'll remember to bring a cushion or better yet, go out and buy a seat cushion w/a back attached. :)

I thought Emily Hughes skated VERY well for April (she won a "Young International" junior competition in Finland earlier this month), but I didn't feel she won last Saturday's Junior FS at Cherry Blossom in a walkover.

I've moved the rest of my junior ladies comments into this thread:
