I've been hearing so many negatives things about him that I decided to start a postitive thread about him :)
Does anyone else think he's an amazing skater? I love how he's so charismatic and has such great control of his nerves. Also, I think, as of right now, he's the most unique man on ice. I don't know anyone else who could do the 3-3-2/3 combination and the Bielmann spin... so flexible.

Count me in! I love Evgeni's skating...btw, he does a 4-3-2(3) combo rather:] There are other top male skaters that I like to watch but I think that for now at least, he's in a class of his own.

I love to watch him skate! The only thing that would make it better for me is if Yags was still competing against him. I think they brought out the best in each other. :)

ITA Samskate. Even though Yags has always been my favourite, neither of them would have been as good without the other pushing them. To come out after the amazing skate from Lindemann in front of his home crowd, and skate his best cool as a cucumber, gets Evgeny lots of respect from me. He is so much better in real life too. On TV I didn't find his free programme inspiring, but live it really drew me in. He really plays to the crowd and they love him. Off the ice Plushenko is a skinny awkward Russian boy with a bad haircut, but on the ice he's the king and he's cool! :)

I also like Evgeni very mutch ;) He isn't pefeckt, but what ability and nerves! Wow! I am very newbie in skatingworld, I but I do remember that always when I was watching skating from television, I was cheering for that blond russian :halo:
About Biellman... Ari-Pekka Nurmenkari from Finland also does Biellman spin. He was 24th is Worlds if I don't remember wrong...?

Ari -Pekka was 26th after the short programme so did not make the cut to the free. I enjoyed his skate though - he did a Tango inspired Short.
Neil Wilson (GB) was 24th after the Free.
Plushenko is my favorite non-Canadian skater.
I love watching him skate. I love his attitude when he's on the ice. He owns it.
Great champion.

I have always preferred Plushenko to Yagudin, whose skating (and good looks ;) ) I do respect and admire in many ways, but I think Plushenko has much better jumping form, flexibility, and posture.
It was a thrill for me to first see Evgeny in person at COI when he was 15. That year I had a front row seat and at the conclusion of the opening number he was standing right in front of me! I knew I was witnessing history in the making and that later I'd be proud to say he had stood before me all those years ago.
One thing on my skating wish list is to see Evgeny do a show program to Rod Stewart music, especially the song Hot Legs!
Besides Rod Stewart, Evgeny also reminds me of my favorite basketball player, Larry Bird. That would be another great costume idea for Evgeny, especially since COI plays in many arenas that host the NBA. I've seen Larry Bird's HS grad photo and they really had similar looks!
My boyfriend has even named a stuffed toy for him, Evgeny Plush-snake-o!

His straightline footwork sequences are always fascinating to me.

A Evgeni Plushenko thread!! Awesome!
I've been a fan of him since Olys, I watched Olys and that was it I becae a total fan of him, then of course thanks to the wonderful oh so wonderful internet I managed to get his previous programs.
4-3-3, 3a/half loop/3flip, this guy keeps getting better and better, I can not even imagine what he could do if he was healthy, hopefully next season he will be.

Plushenko is one of my favourite skaters! :) He's so talented and has such charisma on the ice. Sometimes I think I like his personality more than his actual skating! lol. Aswell as what he's like off the ice, I just love the way he can just do whatever he wants (esp. in the exhibitions) and gets away with it. Most people would be too busy worrying what people might think, but Plush can go out and skate in a bizarre costume and everyone loves it! He isn't afraid to be himself on the ice, or to be different. I think the programme that really won me over was Sex Bomb, his exhibition at 01 Worlds. :D
Plush is definitely one thing: UNIQUE. :) Love im.

I love Evgeny!!! He is an awesome skater and he has a wonderful fun personality. I love everything about him -- in fact he is my favorite male skater!! The Russian skaters just have something special that no one else has in skating. I liked Yagudin's skating, but he could be obnoxious. I like Evgeny better because he doesn't seem full of himself like Yagudin. I love the ice dancers N/K, the pairs T/M and of course Irina.

I've loved Evgeni since he came on the scene years ago as a little boy. 8-) I loved loved loved the competitions between him and yags... It was great day being a fan of both back then.. Oh, well.. He's still my baby.. I loved what someone said here saying they recall cheering for this blonde Russian. sniff.. How sweet... I hope he makes it to 2006 and wins gold and the hearts of others... I think he is a genuine person...

I really enjoy his skating too. Hey has anyone ever noticed that he looks a lot like Joe Elliot, lead singer od Def Leppard? They are both cuties.

You have to admire him. At first I hated him but have come to respect him as an athlete. There is none better. If Sandhu could be consistent, he'd truly have a rival -- they both have similar artistic tempraments.

He just must win Olympic gold. If he dosen't... It would be like fate isn't coming true.
