Don't you hate it when people call someone gay just because they are a male figure skater? Why don't we call Male Football /soccer/basketball players gay? why figure skating? its not fair! im not against gay/lesbians/bi people but still calling people whoa rent gay, gay, isn't right!

It stems from the problem (and GIANT misconception) that figure skating isn't a sport. A lot of people lump figure skating with ballet, because they just don't get it. I think it's very sad. I think it's sad that calling someone gay is an insult, and I think it's sad that someone pursueing their passion has to go through that, and I think it's sad that figure skating isn't considered a sport when it's 3 times as demanding as some things that ARE considered sports (starting with hockey, hah). But...sadly, people are ignorant. Trying to educate them MIGHT help...but really, do you even want to talk to someone who's capable of such idiotic comments? :(

The original poster hates "them" because they discriminate based on something that doesn't hurt anyone. Being gay, whether you view it right or wrong or don't care, doesn't hurt anyone outside of the immediate family of that person. And these perfect strangers still find a way to hate them, based on the fact that they fall in love with people of their own gender.
The people the original poster hates are people who are ignorant. They hurt other people by their words (or hey, gays have been killed by gay haters, too) for no reason, when they could just keep them to themselves (if they HAVE to think them at all). These "gays" are not hurting the ignorant people...but they're still hated violently by them. That's ignorant. And I don't know many people who don't despise ignorance.

It's jealousy. Think about it - football in particular. Running around in practice, beating the daylights out of other guys, for hours and hours a day.
Ooh, ooh, what fun.
They're jealous of male pair skaters, and if the reasons aren't obvious, well, I can't help you. So in their own special neanderthal way, the losers lash out with "gay" - when in reality they'd trade places in a second.

I don't understand why male figure skaters would be called gay when it is hockey and football players that shower naked with each other after their practices and games.

I'm not IceAngel and I know that the thread title was 'hate PPL who discriminate' but my interpretation from the actual post was that IceAngel hates the act of discrimination rather than the actual people. I don't believe that (?)she literally meant that she hated the people ......

The fact is, no one knows for certain who is gay in figure skating, hockey or even football for that matter, unless the particular athlete has "come out" or has been "outted" for some reason. Assumptions about someone's sexual orientation, because of the particular activity/sport they chose to participate in is hardly a reliable indicator of any such thing. Males have been taking communal showers since eons and unless you are actually gay, and even then, it is not a sexual thing. People do take showers to clean themselves off, and yes, they do usually need to be naked to do it...Sorry CanadianSkater, but your comment is just lame, and perpetuates further stereotyping which doesn't help...

Actually there are more gay football players then people think. The Houston Oilers had a few back in their day. A big deal was made about them on the tv too. Such a shame, I think one or two even killed themself over it.

elanboy. i don't think canadianskater's comment is lame at all; it's quite real actually. there are more "gay" people out there than we all think. what makes a person really gay? men (gay, straight, bi) in general, since the beginning of time have particpate in sex in public bathrooms, gym showers, parks, etc....and yes, including taking showers after hockey & football games. i know being "gay" is more than just having sex with members of the same sex.
iceangel. there's nothing wrong with being called gay if you are, unless if you are not. if you think being gay is a good thing, then celebrate it...perhaps people wanna be gay too. now if you think being gay is bad, then you will try every way to disassociate yourself from it, which i believe your post implies.

Why should showering naked together for the sake of showering be considered gay? If that was the case then everyone who uses the communal shower at the gym should be considered gay also.
