Handy/Allen split

I just checked the USFSA website and saw under the Athletes page that Handy/Allen announced they were splitting as of 3/8/04. I was surprised as they had done so well this year. Are either of them looking for a new partner? Any news on these two?

Oh boy...I wonder if Laura will ever find someone just as good or better than Paul...:(

I am newer to the skating world.. Who is Paul? Is he the guy I saw once on TV at nationals that they said hurt himself so bad on the ice and had to end his career? (If that's not him, who is it? He looks to be in his 20s)

Yes, Paul Binnebose is Laura's former partner. He nearly died from a head injury incurred from a fall during an overhead lift in practice. I believe he is now coaching in Texas.

I hear Paul Binnebose is back coaching in Pennsylvania at IceWorks in Aston.

I don't know about IceWorks, but Paul is doing some coaching here in the Baltimore area, at the same rinks where he coached previously. One of those is my rink. He's a great guy, and his students (same ones he worked with before) adore him. He was going to skate in a duet with one of his students at our club's summer show, but I think the latest is that his student is going to do a solo.

I think I read recently that Laura is engaged. Perhaps she'll turn to coaching now. She's what 23, 24?
