Tonya Harding has signed to be back on the ice. Interesting promo involved.

I think she will do good on a hockey team, but I have to say my jaw dropped when i read the promo!

This is bad, but when I read the internet address I thought it said "Indiana Police".:D

Pasted from the article:
"All fans in attendance on Friday are guaranteed to see some sort of a fight as the Ice winds down its “Are You Tough Enough” season. If a fight does not break out, all fans will receive a free ticket to the team’s last regular season game on Sunday (March 14th) against Colorado at 5:00 pm from the Pepsi Coliseum."
I can't believe it - now women's hockey has to promote violence? I'm disgusted :x

From what I know, the Indianapolis Ice is not a women's team. It is a semi-pro team in the Central Hockey League. Basically they aren't a very good team, ticket sales were down several years ago when Market Square Arena was still in existence and the Ice was moved to the much smaller and less aesthetically pleasing Pepsi Coliseum. From what I can tell this is a promotional ploy where the team is trying to draw in crowds by promising big fights. Typical of a not so well known team without a record to back them up.

Well, not that she had a shot before, but if she's off doing things like this (guaranteed fight night at the rink!) which...in MY opinion, shows how little remorse or shame she has for what happened in 94, the USFSA will not only deny her return to eligible and even pro competition, but they'll probably crack up laughing. Or did her wish to go back only last for a week? I'm really confused about what this woman wants. If she at all wanted a single shot at even pro comps from USFSA in the future, why is she off doing this? Does she need the money that badly? Personally I thought it was a real laugh when she said in the interview of the today show that she IS the best skater in the world. First of all in my opinion she never was (landing a triple axel is AMAZING, but it doesn't make you an amazing skater, just amazing at doing a triple axel, the rest of her skating was sloppy and painful to watch, (not that I watched skating in 94 but I've seen some tapes) but she's not the best skater in the world now. With was she showed that week, she couldn't even challenge the Pre-Juvenile division of a competition. I know she said she only prepared for a week but if this meant anything to her, wouldn't she have set up the interview for LATER, after she'd had a few months to get back up and show the world she can still do it? I really don't get her at all. Opinions would be appreciated on any of what I just said. :)

Ok - just read some more on the website...
It's not a women's hockey team, and they signed her? For what? Is she going to play, or just chase the players around and try to whack them on the knees?

I say that's stretching things a bit.

She lied to cover up for her husband and his groupies. She was stripped of her medals, has not been able to compete or profit from the huge influx of skating dollars since the "event", why should she do what she can to make a living. They USFS won't ever let her back in.
You're not doing it, you don't have to go, but in this country we still have the right to earn a living.
As far as her accomplishments, she was the last women to do a triple axel before the recent Japanese women since 1994 and remains only the American woman to land the jump in competition. Not a bad record for a castaway.
She's paid her dues for her past.
I hope she finds a way to settle down in her life, make a decent living, and find happiness and peace.

Of course Tonya cannot skate like she did in her early 20's. Neither can Kat or Tara. Tonya is 32. She will not get reinstated and it would mean little if she could at her age. Yes, Tonya, to this date, is still the only U.S. lady to ever do a 3/axel in competion. She is perhaps the most powerful woman skater the U.S. ever had.

I think she said on that TV show that she was one of the best skaters in the World. The word "was" could mean in the past and in the past, prior to 1994, she won either the silver or bronze at Worlds. This made her one of the best skaters in the world at that time.
And everyone has a right to make a living doing whatever they can. From what little I've seen of her around here, she hasn't been able to make a living teaching and what else does she know how to do?
I don't think she could ever be competitive in eligible competition again even if she were to ever be reinstated.

Everyone has a right to make a living doing whatever they can? How about a murderer for hire, a lousy, drunken doctor, a pedophile priest???

icedancer2, Harding screwed up by being involved in an illegal situation against a competitor. Why in the world should she be allowed to skate in USFSA santioned events to support herself? Why should anyone be allowed to participate/work in a situation where they have done an incredibly nasty/evil thing? I'm not saying that she shouldn't be able to make a living doing something, just not skating in USFSA events.

I never said that she should be allowed to skate in ISU/USFSA events. I meant that she should be able to play hockey or do boxing or whatever it takes to pay the bills.

Todd Bertuzzi of the Vancouver Canucks was suspended for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs by the NHL on Thursday for attacking Colorado's Steve Moore.
Hockey is a dangerous sport. I do not think it is right to promote that a fight will happen at Tonya's game on friday, that's just crazy!

Not to rehash this all again, but there has been no solid proof that Tonya was involved in planning the attack on Nancy Kerrigan, and to this day, she maintains that she found out after the fact.
Personally, I don't think that she was involved in planning the attack. I can see Harding being totally intimidated competing against National/World/Olympic champion Kristi (who won 91 World gold over Tonya's 3-axel), but not Nancy. Nancy was just coming off a huge loss at the previous Worlds, where without the likes of Midori and Kristi, she was the heavy favorite. She was first heading into the long, but ended up in 5th place! Why would Harding be so afraid to compete against the very inconsistent Nancy that she would go through such extreme measures to get rid of the competition? It makes less sense knowing that Tonya's chances of making the Olympic team were excellent.
I actually think Tonya's story is very plausible--that her money-grubbing husband (who, though living off his wife, probably never had true faith in her talent) and his goonies were the mastermainds, without Tonya's knowledge. This is why I think her story is so tragic.

Altering a member's name in order to insult them will not be tolerated. Consider yourself warned.

Sorry Flip, I just lost it when I saw a poster equating Tonya to a pedophile and a killer.

This article appeared in a Portland paper this weekend. Seems that Tonya will NOT be playing hockey at all -- and she wonders whoever had that idea in the first place?
Also some discussion about her trying for re-instatement.

Tonya didn't do herself any favor by
(1) not immediately coming to the police when she learned who was behind the attack (if we are to believe her story that she had no previous knowledge. But why would all three stooges claimed that she did? What benefits could they get have gotten by publicly claiming that Tonya knew?)
(2) When reporters tried to get her to comment on the incident after it happened, the only thing that popped into Tonya's head and out of her mouth was "I'm gonna kick her [Nancy's]butt." Couldn't she at lease pretend to be concerned about Nancy's well being?
