ABC is running a special program tonight at 8 PM titled "Great Comebacks." A blurb from ABC's website:

What did Clay, Tom Jones, and Depp had to comeback from? Clay is a great success. Depp has worked steadily over the years. Tom Jones...well, Tom Jones has always been Tom Jones. Neither one of them has been labeled a "has-been" by the majority of the public.

I was confused by that as well....especially Clay. He was an instant success on his first attempt.

Yes, it is odd that they use the term "comeback."

I guess they confused Clay's 2nd place finish as his career being finished. But then, as we know, his album was a smash success.

As for Depp, maybe they are referring to his film reincarnation, i.e., shedding his sometimes angst-ridden performances for more flamboyant roles, eg. Pirates of the Caribbean.
