I was wondering if anyone has skated on synthetic ice that can tell me about it? Our rink just told us yesterday that they are taking away some of our freestyle sessions. Our club scrambling to come up with a plan. We thought may synthetic ice. Any advice?:(

One year we used at radio city music hall for the ice show and it was real slow, you had to push hard to get anywhere. It was kinda like skating on plywood:0)

I've also heard that it's not so great for your blades.

Doesn't it have to have some kind of oil applied to it as well, in place of a zamboni? Sounds pretty messy if you fall! 8O

Here's a website, although you've probably already checked it out:

www.coldproducts.com/ezglide.php

I checked out the bit about lubricating the surface - it only gets sprayed once/twice a month. That doesn't sound too bad!

I would think after skatig on that it would be hard to go back to real ice. The plus it may not be as cold in the rink. lol You would have tosharpen you blades more.........
