Nice article about two Utah skaters, Stephanie Rosenthal (13th in senior ladies) and Erin Reed (4th place pewter medalist in junior ladies), who both skated very well at 2004 Atlanta Nationals:

Summary: Stephanie Rosenthal is scheduled to perform a new short program to Mancini's "Pink Panther" at two of three Moscow-Utah Youth Games skating exhibitions this coming week, along with 14 other Utah skaters and 18 Russians [I wonder who they will be?]. Rosenthal is scheduled to skate on Wednesday (2/4) at 7 p.m. at the Ogden Ice Sheet and on Thursday (2/5) at 8 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex. The third skating exhibition is on Friday at 6:45 p.m. at the Peaks Ice Arena in Provo.

If anybody can make it to one of these exhibitions, please report back!

I am adding my plea to Sylvia's. I am 10 minutes away but am stuck at home with a broken ankle. (I'm working on a way to get there). If someone can go, please do. If someone can take their camcorder, please do.

I have been told that Holly Cook is also scheduled to skate. It's only $5.00 and tickets are available at the door. Also, this is just the Americans. The article and the structure of the competition would indicate that there will be Russian skaters as well. We don't get a chance to see up-and-coming skaters from other countries very often so this is a great opportunity.

This all came about as a result of the Olympics. Last summer a group of Utah teen athletes went to Moscow to compete in summer sports. Now it's Salt Lake's chance to host athletes from Moscow. The IOC even allowed the Olympic cauldren to be lit for the occasion.

I am told by a friend who went, that there were several Russian skaters that looked very good - pairs and dance as well as singles. Probably on a junior or novice level. Im sure she told me one of the singles skaters did a triple/triple but I don't remember if it was a man or woman. If anyone knows anything about any of these skaters, I would love to hear about them.
