Okay I am a bit behind the times and it may have been discussed on other threads, but I am interested to know if people thought the new judging system was a good thing or a bad thing. After watching my latest lot of tapes of the Grand Prix series and final, I decided it was a really positive step for skating and I think does making the judging a lot fairer and the judges can be more accurate. The judges also are not pressured to compare performances for placements. They can judge on what they see.

It also seems that the skaters can get feedback and then try to work on those elements that are weaker. And it seems like the emphasis on the quad should diminish slightly because that is not the only thing that is going to get you points. I also like how spins get level ratings so great spins gain points. I wonder how skaters like Lucinda Ruh would have done under this system.

Seeing things go back to 6.0 at 4CC this weekend really reiterated how much better the CoP system is. As Bondo said, it still needs some tweaks, but even as is it's still a huge improvement.

Isn't the wacky result of the men competition at the 4CC is due to the secret computer randomly picking the 9 scores, not necessary because of the 6.0 system itself?

If the new cop forces skaters to come up with more interesting programs then I'm all for it, but I do wish the scoring system is easier for the fan to follow and participate.

I love the new system , I think it gives a skater a chance to show off his/her real qualities and as aussie willy said they can judge on what they see now.
