It almost seems bizarre to see the Russians (VV and T/M) in a competition of this calibre...

Couldn't agree more.
I still say that the pairs event is going to be awesome. It will be a great prelude to what we can expect to see from these teams this year. I wonder what effect T/M will have on the end result. As far as i undrstand it only the short programs are included in the competition. I also wonder if Speilberg/Joeright will be doing the Indy challenge.

Didn't Totmianina & Marinin compete last year as well? Anyway, it's not a bad idea, particularly for Volchkova, IMO. Although she should likely win easily, she's been so inconsistent that she could probably use a competition of this caliber to help regain focus. As for T&M, I see less of an advantage for them, but it never hurts to get your programs out there.
Among the other non-U.S. entries, the one that caught my eye was Fleur Maxwell in the junior ladies event. She's done extremely well on the novice circuit in Europe over the last few years, so it'll be interesting to see how she stacks up against the juniors in the U.S. I assume she'll be eligible for the JGP this fall as well?
Just a thought that occurred to me. I know in the U.S., skaters can either compete at the level they've tested to, or one level up. Since none of the non-U.S. entries have usually taken USFSA tests, are they just allowed to enter at whatever level they want?

Yes, they did.
Does anyone else remember Victoria skating at the Jr. Grand Prix Final at DSC a few years back? She didnt skate great, but she really could/can jump.

Oh yes, I remember, since I was there in March 1999! Volchkova won the JGP Final ladies title and Sarah Hughes was 2nd. Who would have thunk just 3 years later...
Wooow...what an awesome roster! Have a great time, everyone!

Funny, I was at that JGP at DSC and I have no recollection of seeing Sarah. I do remember Victoria, though.

Har. Seeing Sarah's free skate -- and talking to her mum -- are my standout memories of the event.
