It was a short article about Nationals. E.M. Swift used to get more copy for this. Anyway it was talking about the post-Harding "Age of Nice" in figure skating with Michelle at the top. But there was some disappointment that those who could challenge Michelle in the past quickly moved on and that Sasha had trouble in the big competitions.
BUT---it did talk about Sasha's move to Robin Wagner and had a Sasha quote about the joy she now felt with Robin. Something about the kind of joy she felt when she was 8 yrs old. And Robin said she wanted to get Sasha to enjoy the journey more rather than always focusing on the goal.

What I hope to see with the Robin/Sasha union is that joy translated to the ice. In the past Michelle, Sarah and Tara have all left me with the feeling of their utter joy on the ice and the idea that there is no where else they would rather be---I love Sasha's skating but I've yet to see that joy. Hopefully Robin can change that.

If it's in the regular SI mag, I am going to have to take a look! We get it, but my husband reads it more than I do. I'm going to go check it out right now! I'll let you know if I have a chance to read it. Thanks for the information!

Mokah, finally got a chance to look at the article. Thanks for the tip. I must say I'm disappointed that Nationals didn't get a little more print in SI, but then again, they're like our newspaper in that they don't pay a lot of attention to figure skating in general. It's kind of a non-sport to the sportswriter types I guess! It was an OK piece, but really didn't say too much IMHO.

Samskate--agree with you. The magazine used to do a full write-up on Nationals and Worlds, including each discipline but lately it is considered lucky if there is any copy at all. The last skating article I saw by Swift was about the Olympics and Sarah's stunning victory and before that a fairly mean-spirited piece on Tara in "SI for Women." Bondo--I wonder if they do ever read these boards. I love the debate here. And as for SI: has Kwan tied the record for most national championships? I know she is close---winning 1 is hard to do let alone many. I think that deserves more than a glorified blurb.

Kwan has to win 2 more titles to set the record.

Kwan did set a record for the most consecutive wins, at 7 and possibly counting.
