I find this amazing and hope that Irina is not being pushed back. I am concerned that her financial situation may be such that she feels like she needs to do Worlds and the COI tour even if she is not ready. I really hope that she is well this time.

Did anyone see the interview that was done with Irina about 6 weeks ago or so? I was in tears watching it. Even though I'm not a big fan of her skating, I still like her and feel so bad for her. I got the impression she was really scared about her health. Also she has to worry about her mother too. I definitely hope she isn't rushing things by trying to do Worlds. She's such a sweet person.

She has every reason to be scared about her health. From what I've gathered she had some form of pericarditis, very, very serious with far reaching complications if not treated completely.
I can't help remembering ice dancer Angilika Krylova(sp?) and the story of the back injury.
It never sounded like it was treated all that effectively til it finally was so serious she was lost to competitive ice dance.
And what a loss that was.
So I hope Irina comes back when she healthy and not one second before.

:( I didn't really become a fan of her skating until her fabulous 2002 year, but she has been a media darling with many since the age of 16. I am worried for her. I think of Sergei dying on the ice not knowing what defect he had. I wish Irina well and hope some of our Russian members might know where to send all these emails. Irina, your life matters more than your skating. We miss and love you. Get well!!!
