i was in that movie. It was shot quite a number of years ago. The skating footage is in Coops Colliseum in Hamilton Ontario. Many of the skaters were local Canadian skaters. The extras were used from various rinks and community members

According to HeatherW's TV Schedule, Cutting Edge is showing on Hallmark this Thursday (1/15 9-11). I saw part of it last time it was on TV and it looked interesting.

Judging by your post, you were probably an infant when this movie originally came out. I agree, it's a good movie (depending on your definition of 'good' ;)), it's probably my favorite feel-good movie.

However, I need to ask you to refrain from talking in 'teenspeak' or 'txtspeak' in these forums. It's difficult to read, and downright annoying for the vast majority of posters. Save it for your real-time messaging programs, okay? Thank you. :D

jp, you were IN the movie? Okay, I'm jealous. :D As an extra (I assume), you might not know, but do you have any idea how much of their own skating the principals did? (I realize they didn't do any of the stunts--and darn it, now I forget who did do them, though I've met one of them--but I've just always been curious how much they could 'hold their own' on skates.)

I know Hough and Ladret did the skating for the Russian team, Shmilkov and Brushkin- who, incidentally, would both be male. (The female's name would be Shmilkova. You'd think the writers or the producers would have done their homework and gotten that straight).

Toepick!

This movie is definitely one of my guilty pleasures; whenever I find it on cable I can't help but watch. Here's a link to the full cast list from the Internet Movie Database:

What I REALLY want to know about this movie is this - who was the voice double for Robin Cousins??? (He plays a commentator, along with Judy Blumberg.) His lips are moving on screen, but the voice that comes out is definitely not his!

OMG, I forgot about "Toepick"!

I taped this movie when it was on last year (it seems to get a lot of play time every winter, doesn't it?) but I forgot to edit out the commercials. Maybe I'll tape it again, sans commercial Thursday night! Thanks for the info, Isk8NYC!

Always the big B. . .

This movie first came out around the time of Winter 92 Olympics didn't it?

I watched it for the skating the first time but it does have some really funny lines. I enjoy it as just one of those feel good movies. Certainly not an Oscar contender but just something that always puts you in a good mood when you watch it.

Remember "Ice Castles" with Robby Benson? The plot was a bit lame, but the skating was great! The music was beautiful -- I still have the soundtrack on -- get this -- VINYL!

A friend of mine choreographed a movie about a hockey team. It had a scene where the main character/hockey player does a striptease on the ice during a game. The choreographer said that she was rehearsing the strip routine on the ice (not actually removing a lot) when the crowd began catcalling and whistling. The director used the crowd footage from that runthrough in the movie, so what you see the hockey player doing doesn't match what the crowd was watching! Oh, the wonders of film editing! I can't remember the movie title maybe Slapshot? -- anybody know?
