So...we have Wild Rose, BC Summer Skate, Thornhill...what are the other monitored summer events in Canada, and which skaters will be at which event?

I'm planning to try to take in Wild Rose the first weekend in August. So far, I haven't heard who's skating there (doesn't help that BD isn't skating this summer -- for the first time in 10 years).

Hi Lee,
While I do not know who is competing this summer either, I am wondering who is planning on attending Thornhill, MIntoSkate, and Autumn Skate (Ottawa), as I am likely to attend those three. Anyone else going to these events or know who might be competing?

Also, does Manitoba still hold a summer invitational?

You're in luck, Lee. Anabelle Langlois & Patrice Archetto confirmed to me that they will be competing at Wild Rose to debut their new programs this August! :) We'll expect a full report upon your return. ;)

I guess I should have expected that (duh!) what with them training at the Glenora now. I wonder if there will be any other Sr. Pairs teams out here, or if they'll be doing exhibition like S&P did last summer? I guess we'll find out! Thanks for the heads-up, josef!

The schedule for Minto Summer Skate is expected to be posted on the new and improved Minto Skating Club website soon (hopefully by Friday).

Check out the website at: www.mintoskatingclub.com

Here's a direct link to the page about Summer Skate (http://www.mintoskatingclub.com/events_results/minto_summer_skate/index.shtml):

There are also plans to post results at the end of each day - there is a link to the results page from the page above.

I'll be attending at least part of the competition - am wondering who will impress me the way Jeff Buttle did last year :o

I believe Jennifer Robinson usually does Thornhill, so I'm assuming she'll be there again this year.

Sources tell me Michelle Currie and Candace Bert will be doing Wild Rose. I heard a couple other names but can't remember exactly who, so I won't hazard any guesses.

Still don't know if there's actually going to be a [i:88708e429c]competition[/i:88708e429c] for the Senior Pairs.

Lee,

Where is the Wild Rose Comp normally held in Edmonton? If that's the long weekend, I may decide to take a little trip!

I just happen to have a copy of the announcement handy...;)

The competition is held at the Clareview Recreational Centre, 3804 - 139 Avenue.

Basically, if you go north on 50th Street, and turn right at 137th Avenue, you'll get there. Go along 137th until you can see the complex a bit set in on your left side...turn left there (I *think* it's just after the Superstore).

Looks like the events run Aug 2 - 5 -- both ice surfaces.

The list of Entries for Quebec Summer Provincials is up at the FPAQ page:
http://www.patinage.qc.ca/20022003/championnatsete/groupes.PDF

Some of the big names in Seniors.
Ladies: Marianne Dubuc, Nadine Gosseline, Marie-Luc Jodoin, Cynthia Phaneuf, Joannie Rochette
Men: Marc-Andre Craig, Marc-Olivier Bosse

Most of the top Juniors, Novices etc, from Quebec will be there also. The only ones not competing are Dubé/Tétrault because their NACS is the same week (so a few others who are competing there won't be in Sherbrooke)

Yes, she's coming back.

Annie usually does Minto Summer Skate in Ottawa the Weekend before Quebec Summer Provincials. Not sure if that's her plans this summer but that could be why she's not on the list.
