and sorry, i know this is harsh, but, Ave Maria singer .....all I could think was "That's a drag queen in a ball gown"

and oh yes, this fall/winter's special, close ups of Nicole Bobek OVERACTING

and jumpin Joe is just scarey looking, maybe she wanted to make sure there was someone there older than she is

I agree. None of the other skaters came close to the performances by these two. If they had not been in this show there would have been little reason to watch it.

I too felt Yuka and Jason were great. IMO, the rest of the show was just an Embarassment.

Strange.. I usually can't stand any of those shows, but I enjoyed this one..

I liked almost everyone except Yuka and Jason.. :??


Maria B, Oksana B and Denis P were the highlights to me.. The grp numbers were not bad either.. :oops:

But, I think professional skating fits Maria to a T. :D I hope she does more shows so I can see her blossom. ;)

I agree with flower power. When Over the Rainbow started I thought why didn't they just have someone from the audience come out and scream it? All I could think of was Eva Cassidy's version and how perfect that would have been for Nicole. That singer was horrible. I had such problems taping this, watching this (we just got a new dvd recorder) and it will have to go back as it sticks and surges forward on playback. After all the trouble I was having it was certainly not worth it. Katarina may have skated her last special. This was absolutely the worst program I have ever seen.

I couldn't watch this show because my local NBC affiliate (and most of the other US channels in my area) was off the air all afternoon. I'm glad to hear it sounds like I didn't miss much. :lol:

(re: the Over the Rainbow singer) I'm so glad it wasn't just me! Made me wonder who she knew to get that gig. Truly truly aweful. And the other singer (not the drag queen, but the one who did Man of La Mancha and a couple of others) was somewhat better, but mostly by comparison to the 1st singer. :roll:

ITA that Yuka's solos and Yuka & Jason's numbers were the real highlights, but I also enjoyed LuLu's first number, and the Bond medley (despite it being dripping with stereotypes).

I was flipping through the channels when I saw Katarina 'dancing embarrassingly badly'-- only at first I didn't realize she didn't have skates on, and I actually thought she was doing one of her regular programs where she just stands in one place and wiggles! Honestly, it looked so similar to many of her programs that it took me a minute to realize she was in boots and not skates!

I thought her dancing was so bad, I couldn't watch, so I changed the channel. It looked like this was going to be THE worst skating special ever, and judging from your reviews, I didn't miss a thing!

I was not a huge fan of this special either. Katarina bores me. I agree about her wiggling in place a lot on the ice, and her dancing sequence in the show did not add to the Bond number.

I did not like many of the performances by the singers--especially over the rainbow.

I did like Yuka, and I like Joe, so I was glad to see him. And I liked the Bond number.
