Arsenette posted elsewhere that the 12/21 Ladies' and Men's GPF long programs would be aired on ABC today at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time rather than at 4:00 in her area. I just checked TV Guide online and it will be shown at 1:00 p.m. in my area as well.
If you are following planning on seeing this event, you may want to check the air time in your area.

Looks like the skating was interupted by a special report from homeland security.Skating always seems to take a back seat:(

What's new?
Noticed CBS is still broadcasting football and a movie (I think) is on NBC.

I HATE ABC! I missed the GPF ladies and mens thanks to their stupid time change. Not that they have ever learned how to present it properly anyway! May as well just go ahead and see who won on the GPF board.

What really bugged me about the bulletin interruption was that they could have waited another 2 minutes to wait for the end of Emmanuel's program and get his marks.
It's bad enough that they had to cut in for something that wasn't really that urgent, but did they have to ruin the most important part of the men's competition?
Fortunately, I was home and was able to grab the west coast feed.
Now I don't want to sound like I'm making light of the current situation in the U.S. but one needs to put it into perspective. If you're at home, on a Sunday, watching a sporting event, odds are, longer waits at airports and border crossings aren't a real priority. I'm sure it can wait until the regularly scheduled newscasts.
Or maybe how about replacing 60 seconds of commercial time with a quick bulletin and a teaser for the next newescast?

Actually.. I have to disagree.. yes I'm upset that the competition was chopped up (another reason it should be LIVE - hello  ) but I knew at least 2 people flying out Monday morning that were watching the skating and actually SAW the report.. considering that even "I" don't watch network news on weekends.. MANY people had to see that report at that time period.. its one of the busiest travel times of the year.. and this affects more than airlines!

But did they have to spend almost 30 minutes doing it?
The real problem is that whever something like this happens, the media in general beats the subject to death with constant repition.
Since the commercial time would have already been written off because of the bulletin, would it not have made more sense to air a brief news bulletin during _one_ of the commercials? This would have effect of making those affected aware of the situation and giving them the opportunity to take whatever measures they need. And everybody is satisfied.

couldn't they just have run a banner with the same information.
I'm sorry but something like say weather alerts, forest fire or road warnings which depending where you live can be a life and death thing RIGHT NOW often just rates a banner.
It's not like the networks were telling you you had five minutes to get to the bunker were they.
Networks DO tend to beat things to death to the point people may not take alerts seriously because they get beaten to death then nothing happens. Not to mention radio and the all news all the time network.
And do you really think if the same alert was issued during - say -
the Superbowl the network would have spent the same amount of time.
Or would they have done a quick blurb with more info to follow when the game was done.
