Did anyone catch the commercial for this during the GPF coverage today? This is an AWESOME compilation. Not one, but TWO tapes of Olympic performances, *including* Sonja Henie's FIRST appearance at the Olympics, in 1924, making her the youngest Winter Olympian ever at age 11.The commercial flashed clips of Dorothy, Brian B, T&D, Peggy, Dick (1948 Games), Katarina (1988 Games) and Tara and Sarah. It would be great if they included the LP/FD programs of every Olympic Champion in all disciplines, because it would show the younger generations of skating fans how the sport evolved over time.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Someone posted a site for this video a few weeks ago but I couldn't locate the link anyore. However, I won't buy this video myself because I really do not like the way they eliminated some very important skaters who are Olympics Champions. They treated as if these Olympics gold medalists don't/didn't exist, to name a few:
G&P('98), M&D('98), K&D('92), Ilia Kulik('98)and B&S!!

ESPN showed this ad seemingly during EVERY commercial break :D. In fine print at the bottom was the web address; the videos are available at http://www.tenmayflower.com

Well, aside from any political reasons for the omissions, which wouldn't apply to either of Artur Dimitriev's OGM performances (BTW, it was M&D in '92 and K&D in '98 ;)) and omitting G&P's 1994 performance would be more understandable since they should *NOT* have won, the only other reason not to include more recent performances is that, by the early 1990's, most of us already had VCRs to tape this stuff on, whereas that was not the case in the 1980s and before. My personal collection of tapes only goes back to 1994 Olympics (minus 1994 Worlds), although I vivdly remember watching both the 1992 and 1988 Games (and ESPECIALLY remember the Battles of the Carmens and the Brians in '88!) and wish I had those on tape now. I would hope that this tape is directed more to the pre-VCR era, since those performances are still talked about today, but the only people who have seen them are the ones who were alive then.

I won't be buying it. It ignores fantastic performances by both Olys gold and especially non-gold medalists, and from what I read over at FSU, most of the performances are clips/highlights, not the full program.

The link shows a list of skaters, and it looks like they are missing quite a few important performances. I don't know why there has never been a really complete tape of pre '94 Olympic performances.

I asked for it for Christmas and am really looking forward to it. It doesn't occur to me to get bent over who's not in it, I'm grateful for whatever I can get. :D

It does NOT show Sonja Henie's performance, unfortunately, It refers to it very quickly and shows a very brief clip, and then moves on. And they call irina Rodnina and partner an ice dance team.

nevertheless, I enjoy this compilation, only because I don't have a lot of the other stuff on tape.
