Anyone saw Katia and Daria on Today Show?

Did anyone catch Katia skating on the Today show this morning?

I came in on the part where Matt was asking this little girl standing next to Katia if she also wanted to skate and she nodded her head and smile. At first I thought he was talking to some fan that won a contest to stand next to Katia, but the little girl turned out to be Daria. She looked completely different than the pictures of her that I've seen on the internet. Maybe it was because she had on glasses and her hair was braided to both sides that I didn't recognize her.

Katia skated to some country song. She did a single loop, axel, 2toe and one spin combo. I think the cold wheather gave her a little bit of a problem, but she looked good.

I saw it, and I was so miffed that I didn't have a tape in the vcr! Daria is absolutely adorable. Matt asked her if she would like to make a career out of skating, and she said yes. :) Katia then said that since Daria didn't start skating seriously until 8 that it would probably be difficult. But in my opinion, just seeing Daria skate with Katia in that Mother's Day special...she's not bad! Who knows if she'll have a successful competitive career, but just by being who she is (and skating reasonably well), I think she'd have a rather nice professional career.

btw, Katia skated to "I Hope You Dance".

yup, Katia skated to "I hope you Dance" by Leann Womack. She'll have a Christmas special with a bunch of other skaters (not Ilia though) on Christmas Day, with Leann Womack also.

I love how Katia is so level-headed about Daria's abilities/talent. When Matt asked Katia what she thought about Daria's future skating career, she just laughed and said something to the effect of, well she wasnt' serious about it for a while, but we'll see! :lol:
