Buying a skateboard

I'm a total newbie when it comes to skateboarding and i'm trying to buya skateboard. Can you recommend me what to buy, where, how and why?

Should I build one myslef or buy a complete?

I was on skateamerica.com the other day and they sell complets for $109...is that a good price? are they crappy ones?

Plus, what size of wheels/deck do you recommend?

I'm 6''4'' by the way...
