I was just reviewing some of these jump scores, and I what I noticed is that if you do a T.Toe-T.Toe you get a higher base point than a T.Lutz-d.toe. This is very crucial in the SP because a 9.0 is much higher compared to the 7.4(I think) for a T.Lutz. That's why Amber Corwin probably has the most point value program jump wise than any skater. Just an intresting note.

Well a 3toe-3toe is still a 3/3 no matter what even if it is the easier one. I suppose skaters do the lutz to keep it trained and realize people woudln't risk messing up the 3/3.

I think ladies do the 3 lutz/2 toe loop or the higher difficulty 3 lutz/2 loop (Irina and a few others) because that is the solid combo of the highest difficulty that they have for the SP...its like with the men, it used to be a 3 axel/3 toe loop in the SP, then it became a quad in the SP, as some few skaters had the quad consistent enough for the SP.
If a lady starts doing a 3/3 toe loop in the SP consistently, and has the whole package, then we'd see more of that.

That is interesting. I remember Surya Bonaly had a 3toe-3toe in her short program at the Nagano Olympics, and Scott Hamilton said that the judges would probably see that as a less valuable combination than the triple lutz-double toe or triple lutz-double loops that most of the other women were doing. I think the triple-triple SHOULD have a higher value, since most women find that more difficult. Good to know the new system backs that up. We'll probably see more of it soon.
