This is very good news indeed: not only is it nearly 3 weeks earlier than the NBC broadcast, but there's a chance it will be longer. CBC usually has a tendency to chack less. (It's not a guarantee, though -- in the past when it was on both NBC and Global, Global showed the exact same version as NBC. I guess it just depends who's doing the editing.)

Unless I read it incorrectly, the CBC website has Gotta Skate listed for one hour only, while NBC has scheduled two hours. I attended the taping in Hamilton, and I just can't see how CBC can edit this show down to an hour and still maintain the theme of the show. All the skaters are introduced as characters at the beginning, so the continuity of the program will really be disrupted by a one hour broadcast, I think. :??

Hmmm, you're right, it is currently listed as only 1 hour. I'm really hoping that's an error that will be corrected before the time comes ... if not I'll just have to think of it as an appetizer before the main NBC meal. ;)

This wouldn't be the first time CBC broadcast a show like this in only a 60-minute timeslot--they did the same thing last year with Sk8 With Elvis and Holiday Festival On Ice (and plan to do the same thing with this year's Holiday Festival On Ice show).

The 60-minute Holiday Festival On Ice broadcast actually wasn't too bad--even though quite a few programs had to be chacked, most of them were already shown in other broadcasts anyway. The CBC Sk8 With Elvis broadcast, OTOH, was absolutely horrible! Half the skaters in that show were chacked altogether and many of the programs that were shown (Elvis skating to Elvis, both of S&P's numbers) were ones most fans had already seen many times in other broadcasts.

I just hope CBC's Gotta Skate broadcast will be more like Holiday Festival On Ice than Sk8 With Elvis! And even if they do chack a lot from the broadcast, it'll at least be a nice "sneak preview" for the full NBC broadcast, if nothing else. I feel badly for Canadian fans who can't get U.S. TV, though!

I'm happy to have it though, even if it IS only an hour. i'll bet they'll show Shae and Vic's new one (Sway, I think) which is supposed to be awesome.
