Naomi & Peter Are Back

I guess this piece of news went unnoticed, but it looks like Naomi and Peter are returning. They skated together in the Victory For Kids show on October 4, 2003 and possibly returning to competition.

Well, they're still listed in the Team A envelope on the USFSA site, so until they post on that website that they won't be in Atlanta, I've been expecting them to be there.

Does that same reasoning apply to Emilie and Brandon? They are still listed also on that same site.

i see the 10/4 show, but i didn't find anything on their website that would indicate that they're returning to serious competition.

did i miss it?

they aren't doing any heavy duty training either. wouldn't it be a little late to start now and be competitive with belbin/agosto at nationals this season?

similarly with nussear/forsythe. they aren't training now. wouldn't they have to compete at sectionals to qualify for nationals? maybe they're done but just haven't told anyone at usfsa.

Yeah, If Naomi and Peter want to come back they are better off just getting some rest this fall, and getting a headstart on next years programs this winter/spring. All I know is that they filed the papers for regoinals, which means a bye to nationals.

As far as Emilie and Brandon, AFAIK, they have split, but I REALLY hope it's not true.

Well, it's definitely true that they haven't been training together (and have in fact been in two different states) for some time, and from what I gather, there are no immediate plans to change that fact. I couldn't tell you whether they've said, "We're never going to skate together again," but if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck... Even if the split has been formalized, I wouldn't expect an announcement about it. Neither of Brandon's last two partnerships has had an announcement following the breakup. They just quietly let the news leak out, which seems to be happening again.

Well if you're gonna back me into a corner like that, I'm of course gonna back myself up and declaratively state "Of course they're competing at Nationals. The USFSA site says so."

I am assuming you are talking about Naomi and Peter working on a FD and OD. Do you have accurate sources since you have stated before you are from Boston? And are these programs for this year?

Yes I am talking about Naomi and Peter, and yes I am from Boston, which is not the dark side of the moon. I have this information from a very reliable source.

well, "putting together a fd and od" probably fulfills the requirements for staying in the "a" envelope. but if they're currently now "putting together" their competitive programs that certainly doesn't indicate any kind of serious training for this season's nationals! count them out, i think.

as for next year? after all of naomi's statements about being effectively tired of training, and even not wanting to go on the "pro" circuit.....

I thought at one time Naomi and Peter were a couple off the ice as well as on. Is that still the case?

Naomi and Peter used to be a couple, but not any more. The rumor about her "expecting" is just about as much true as all the ones about Irina Slutskaya "expecting" Yeah Naomi made a lot of comments about not wanting to compete any more, but AFAIK she wanted to go pro, Peter wanted to compete, and that's what cause the "break" in the first place. If she really was "done" with skating, they wouldn't have been at Viktory for Kids. Last I checked, people were allowed to change their minds. And let me also add that all of these things that were being said were off the record, and nothing offical, except the statement made in August about not competing in the Grand Prix.

I know where this rumor comes from. In an article posted by the highly reliable *cough, cough* Werner, it was implied that Naomi was pregnant. This is also the same source for the Grishuk-Tcherneshev nonsense. He's so bad, that Irina Slutskaya refuses to give interviews to him (not that it's stopped him from speculating about her).
