Word at Skate Canada was that many people were going to be attending - both skaters, media, and spectators. The feeling was that only the people required to attend Cup of China would be there; everyone else was going to Bofrost if possible.

It will be interesting to see how things go there this year.

I'm not surprised. Although it kinda makes sense to split the GP events more evenly across the continents, it still seems "unpleasant" the way it was just taken away from Germany. I hope Bofrost stays popular- right up there with Finlandia, Ondrej Nepala, Vienna Cup, etc.

Why would the USFSA not send skaters in the womens and mens event? Seems we have so much talent we could showcase. Just curious.

One reason only - money. It's costly to send skaters to every international competition.

The U.S. has three ladies who didn't get a second JGP event because they finished fifth in their first event (Archambault, Donovan, and Czisny); all are skaters whose past results as a whole indicate that they have the potential to do well internationally, and all are ready for the senior experience. I would think it would be worth the money to come up with assignments for each of these ladies between Bofrost and Zagreb, and I'm a little surprised the USFSA hasn't done so. But yes, it is a money issue.

Laura Handy & Jeremy Allen won't be at Bofrost - their names were removed from the USFSA's assignments page today and "NA" [not applicable] has appeared in the men's, ladies', and pairs' boxes for this event.
