The interview was obviously not directed at the skating world it was just a overview and introduction to figure skating.

I thought the interview was nice, simple. Remember not everyone is familiar with this sport. I found it refreshing and quaint. Then again I do like to keep things simple if at all possible. I like the idea of Ambercrombie introducing the sport on their web site, kind of a cool thing to do.

I also like that they used a Jounior skater and not a pro!

Not only was the interview presumably for non-fans, but I'd also assume there was a young target audience--Abercrombie Kids, right? Considering that, I think the tone of the interview was perfectly appropriate, and while the interviewer may not have known anything about skating, he/she asked the right questions for a reader who isn't familiar with the sport.
