Is the skating facility in danger of being destroyed because of the fires?

Edited to delete post. Sorry, didn't notice there was another thread already started on this.

They just showed a wide angle shot of Lake Arrowhead. I could see Burnt Mill Road area and the general village -- it looks like the fire is skirting around the eastern side and may pass it by. Keep your fingers crossed!!!!!!

With all due respect, the fate of a skating rink pales in comparison to what has been going on so far.
The message board I spend most of my time on has many dear friends in the SoCal area. Some of whom I'd just met the week before in a special gathering in Long Beach. I've spent since Saturday watching frantically for their updates, and had to go to bed Saturday night knowing one friend in the Simi Valley area had flames on all borders of her property, with no way out. Thankfully, her property (and herself, her horses, etc) were spared.
Today, another friend now sits at his friend's house, while his own subdivision is threatned.
One friend's in-law's house has been destroyed. Another friend has 3 co-workers whose homes have been destroyed.
My sister's friends house was spared, but the entire row of houses just across the street from them are nothing but soot and ash now.
So many deaths. So many homes destroyed. So much rebuilding to do once the flames are finally doused. Not just rebuilding of structures, but of entire lives. Is it really all that important that a skating rink is safe or not?

On a *figure skating* messageboard, those who are not living in the SoCal area and may not know anybody who lives in the SoCal area may find themselves personalizing this tragedy by wondering if the training facility that gave us Michelle Kwan is threatened or not.
No one was prioritizing the fate of Ice Castle over anything or anyone else in Southern California - it just happens to be a place that many who have not been there are aware of.

I guess that makes sense Iggles.
I live in CO. And, through my other message board, I have basically lived these fires since they started. I am very caught up in it. It is just terrifying to watch.
I will admit the first gut reaction about Ice Castle for me was "so freaking what." Yes, I know it "gave us Michelle Kwan." But, its just so unimportant. Even if we don't know anyone in the area. Just to start imagining so many homes lost already....
Yes, if it is damaged/destroyed by the fire, it will be a shame. I already am a bit bummed to hear the set for the Little House on The Prairie show was burned up. But, that still just pales in comparison.
Anyway, my heart and prayers go out to all who are affected, by either being there, having friends/family there, or in any way.

Foote...like i said on the original thread, i agree with iggles that this is a figure skating board and no one means any disrespect to the people of CA..it is just all most skating people know in Lake A., CA. I started the other thread becasue I once skated, lived in and made friends in Lake Arrowhead. So, no disrespet to your friends, or mine in CA, that is just where my memories are.
WIth that said, I, too, live in CO and am now 8 miles from the Overland fire and a bit scared myself as my throat is sore and my eyes are killing me from the smoke. So, yes, now CA is of less concern to me and CO, my health, my friends who live up lefthand canyon, my friends parents who live in Happy Canyon, and my own safety are my priority. So pray we are all safe in this world of dryness and fires.

I'm about 15 miles from the Overland fire myself. Sounds like we're almost neighbors. Prayers to you that you are safe overnight. Please check in and let us know how you are.

Some of us do want to know about the fate of Ice Castles. Why???? Because we know the owner Anthony Liu. Our best ever Australian skater, so forgive us for having to ask.
Anthony lives on Burnt Mill Road, so is anyone able to tell me if the fires have gone through yet?
I had made enquiries on another thread too.

When I first heard "Lake Arrowhead" on the news, it got my attention.
Lots of kids go to Ice Castle camps, so there are people on this board who have been to Ice Castle and know people who live there. Thus the concern about the training center. If this was a random rink in an industrial park, I doubt people would be as concerned.
I get the personalization of a tragedy. As we learned the names of the people who were killed on 9/11, I looked for my college friends (four live in Boston), then looked for skaters. Fortunately, I found neither.

There was an arial of Lake Arrowhead. The area where Burnt Mill Road goes through was "untouched". Burnt Mill Road is on the south-west side of Lake A. The fire went through the north-east side.
It's misty and even snowing up on Big Bear (the next hill over). I'm not sure if it is in Lake Arrow.
