OK I'll start, although I have a feeling that this topic will be moved. That's OK.

Question - What is the cab fare from the airport to downtown? Also, what is the cab fare from downtown to the secondary arena?

I know there are limo's and busses and such but sometimes it's cheaper to share cab fare between 3-4 people. So, if anyone knows or could provide a link where we could find out it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I've never had to take a cap from downtown to Gwinnett, but I can honestly say I wouldn't do it unless you do have some hard and fast info on fares. It's not a small trip and probably not a cheap one. I do know that MARTA (train) picks up directly from one of the terminals at Hartsfield (airport) and goes to downtown. Depends on where you're staying but it wouldn't be a far walk to many of the hotels. I'll find the link to MARTA so you can see the routes.

I think as it gets close to Nats we should start a thread on possible carpools. I live out near the Gwinnett arena and will be taking the train in from Doraville and I know of others that will be doing the same; I'm certainly not opposed to giving a ride to people if I'm already headed to the same place.

Peaches....it never occurred to me you are from Atlanta. No wonder you know about Po Hayes. Check at the Duluth rink if she's still there.

I am staying in Duluth. I'll drive to the train and train to Philips. I'll definatley fill my car with people provided we all go and stay for the event.

I think the issue of public transportation is that from Philips to Doraville you take Marta, then transfer to Gwinette Co's transit system, right? And it requires two buses to get from Doraville to the arena in Gwinett. Please verify that for me if you can.

We'll have to meet in Atlanta to say hi!

I haven't seen Po at Duluth, but I'm rarely there. I'll ask a buddy of mine that teaches there and see if she knows anything. And, yes, we will definitely have to meet at Nats! :)

I posted a link one time ot the Gwinnett Transit routes, I'll have ot see if I saved that link somewhere. Someone also told me they think that GT picks up from Five Points station and runs out here, but I'm not totally clear on that.

I used to live in Atlanta. Let me warn you that Atlanta's mass transit system is okay, but not always the best.

It's about 30 miles from downtown to the Gwinnett secondary location, which is north of Atlanta. Don't forget that rush hour traffic in Atlanta is one of the worst in the nation.

Traffic is a big nightmare, true. But, if you're going North in the morning, you'll have it good, and if you're going South in the afternoon, it should be pretty good. I'll be interested to see the final schedule of events so I can plan my traffic attack, lol.

I live in Walton County and will be taking the Marta in every day.

I use to go to the Duluth rink and watch Aren Nielsen and Po skate. Whatever happened to Po. I have often wondered about her. I use to talk to her when I went to the rink. I would wait till their ice time was done and while they were resurfacing the ice I would talk to Aren and Po.

Cabfare from airport to downtown Atlanta is about $25, including tip. MARTA is much cheaper and would be faster during rush hour. After dark, I would take a cab, but during daylight, especially during rush hour, I would take MARTA.

Cab fare to downtown from the airport is a standard $25 plus tip. I don't have any idea what it would be to Gwinnett. I take the trip from the airport to downtown at least once a month and with my normal luggage I just take Marta (NOTE: My normal luggage is ONE briefcase and 1 22" carryon!)

Po Hayes is skating pairs in Atlanta with Richard Gilliam. They just withdrew from Easterns. I don't know why.
