Hi all,

Just in time for Skate America, SkateFAIR has posted two press releases and an analysis of the Code of Ethics:

The New ISU Code Speak: Secrecy and Cheating Judges Still on Display as Skating Season Debuts in North America

Secrets and Lies: The ISU Turns Fiction Into Fact

Analysis of the ISU Code of Ethics

Enjoy!

I just pulled up your analysis of the code of ethics and was very surprised to see a Christine Brennan quotation at the top. Brennan has shown herself to be an extraordinarily poor analyst of skating, frequently using horribly flawed logic to make her point. In addition, it took her about 7 or 8 years after the 1994 Olympics to finally 'get it' that figure skating was not all about Tonya and Nancy, thus revelaing her superficial knowledge of the sport. Hmmm.. seems you would benefit by using a quote by a journalist with far more knowledge and credibility than Brennan.

Does anyone pay any serious attention to organiztions like SkateFAIR? It's wonderful that they can use their first amendment rights to criticize the ISU, but where are the suggestions for making the system better?

Actually, I don't know anything about Skatefair. But I kept seeing their buttons at Worlds, etc. and thought I'd learn more about them by reading the info.

Hey Bondo..I don't take them seriously. None of the skaters I speak to or correspond with take them seriously either. They're thought of as the Greenpeace of figure skating.
