I heard this on the radio today, and wanted to share it.
As you know, Albany NY is playing host to the latest edition of Ice Wars. In conjunction to the competition/show 810 WGY, one of the sponsors, is holding a contest for local young girls who are skaters and who want to be a flower girl for the competition. They are running a commercial on the radio (naturally!), with S&P. You have to register online for it.
It sounds like a neat opportunity for my area's young skaters to meet and greet some of the sport's finest. No doubt, with Handra and Sinek now coaching locally, they can use their influence to provide more opportunities for this sort of thing (last time I checked, NYS IS home to the reigning ladies OC). The last time (AFAIK the only time) this area hosted a major skating competition was the 1996 US Pro Championships, though we get COI and SOI every year.
PS: Brian Boitano is going to be interviewed on the air tomorrow morning. I'll try to catch it and tell y'all what he said.
