Ummm....by closing the threads I think that they're trying to stop people from talking about that subject ;)
As the one who started the original thread, I'd like to say what I did NOT have in mind. I did not want to gossip about anyone who accidently was exposed. And I don't think anyone who joined in the thread did that. When I last saw it, it was an honest discussion about costumes that were/were not appropriate. I began it because I think costumes DO show too much. I have seen an assortment of body parts that I think should stay covered. I think this thread generated a sincere discussion. Although it is unfortunate that some body parts were referred to (obliquely, not directly)this is not the fault of the posters. They are only reporting what they have seen. I saw nothing obscene, tacky, etc. in this discussion. The posters here did not create this topic in our minds. We are responding to what we have seen of the skaters, and if we think costuming is going in an inappropriate direction, I think we should discuss it, not ignore it.

Lutzgirl, you're free to start up your own board and keep open whichever topics you wish.
i'm not sure how much cleavage Michelle Kwan is showing in her new dress is a figure skating issue...that's kind of like saying how your makeup looks under the lights at school is an educational issue:??
This thread was different than gossip (which I hate), because gossip involves either secrets or speculation. If someone repeatedly wears costumes that don't adequately cover their chest, rear etc., THEY are the one appearing in public that way. You don't accidently wear a costume that is see through, or that has a plunging neckline, or that is cut too high on the hips so that the rear is exposed. Again, I am not talking about accidents here. I have no desire to ever embarass anyone who has a costume accident. I am talking about skaters - athletes - who consistently wear costumes that are too revealing. This is an legitimate issue, not a matter of gossip.

Heh...I completely agree. I for one, thought it was a useless topic and had no substance...Sorry Roma, I just didn't even see the point because I think Michelle is one of the classiest-dressed skaters, and it sort of seemed like it was just gossipy, though I know that was not your intent.

I'm tired of everytime I open my inbin there are countless emails about ONE thread. I haven't been around lately for medical reasons so I don't know what on Earth happened. I have track to the first previous one so I understand the idiocy that went on there.
Lutzgirl. If you are uncomfortable with moderation practices here you are not forced to come here. We have rules even if you don't agree with them. Consider yourself warned if this topic comes again. One thing that Adrian doesn't like - heck, me too, is having to warn people over and over about stupid things like this.
If you haven't gotten it by now, this is a warning.
