That was a very good article. A great find. I like these two a lot but I think they will have a hard time holding on to their current ranking as the teams currently behind them improve. I really forsee Kalesevich& Parchem and possibly Orscher & Lucash moving past this team this year. Another to watch is Roth and McPherson. I love the personality and look of Scott & Dulebohn but with the injuries he has experienced I think it is questionable if he can hold on....

I am glad. There are a great couple. They performed at our ice show in May and since I work behind the scenes, I was able to talk with them aty length. They are both very personable...great people and I wish them every success.

What makes you think Scott and Dulebohn won't also continue to improve? I think they're the Rodney Dangerfield of U.S. Pairs; they get little respect from many fans, although the judges have given them credit where it's due.

We'll soon see. Philip is healthy, and hopefully the two of them will remain healthy. I like K&P, but we'll have to see if their technical level will really improve. At U.S. Nationals last year, it was 8-1 in favor of S&D, and that was after only about 6 weeks of training due to Philip's injury. I believe most of the judges had S&D ahead on the presentation mark, too... This year S&D wll actually be able to train through the summer, so they should be able to improve, too. Actually, in spite of the limited training last year, they still added the throw triple toe, which Tiffany landed at both Nationals and Worlds, I think. Pretty impressive, actually.

Pat, being biased is ok. I like Scott& Dulebohn too! But I also see what is coming down the turnpike and the competition is going to go up a few notches. I think Scott & Dulebohn can improve but she is going to need to get a bigger triple throw, right now it is one of the smallest I have seen at the senior level. It really is hardly a throw at all. Presentation wise this team is top notch. So I hope they improve but they will have a lot of ground to cover to hold off whats coming up from behind.

Maybe Roth & McPherson, yes, I agree, they are already a stronger pair than K&P, or at least were before her injury.

But if S&D are the underrated Rodney Dangerfields, then K&P are the most overrated team in this country. They've got a nice look and power in a weak U.S. field, but they don't have the overall easy quality of S&D or are as well matched in the way they move and their unision. The strength of the team is towards Aaron and his strength in the lifts and other pair elements. Has Stephanie ever landed a clean triple SBS jump in competition? I think I've seen one clean SBS 3sal from her in two years. No improvement at all in consistency or technique in not only that but also landing the throws. If I saw improvement, I'd say they could be headed towards bigger things, but the lack of it makes me pessimistic towards them by now. S&D have improved considerably every year until this past year when they were stopped by Philip's injury, but if he's healthy, I expect them to continue to improve again. The other thing about S&D is that except for the Olympics this year, they are great competitors who usually come through when it counts, and that's something that shouldn't be overlooked when comparing them to the up 'n comers. Consistency does play a substansial role in success in this sport.

I have nothing against K&P, but I'm tired about hearing how they are the future when their skating hasn't really shown any marked improvement since they won the jr title in 2000.

not to nitpick too much, Scott, but if S&D need bigger triple triple throws, THEY will have to work on it. I really like this team and hope they can fend off the injuries.

Leanne, I agree with you to some extent concerning Kalesevich & Parchem. They play their strengths very well ( presentaion, speed, lifts). But the other elements are tenous and if they don't so something about them they will not be able to beat back challenges from the likes of Inoe/Baldwin who work so hard, and Orscher/Lucash who are really working on their presentation and speed ( they have the elements) and possibly Roth/McPherson who are young and very talented. Not to mention the possiblity of Hinsman/Hartsell who could be strong. The point is there is a lot of talent out there and it is going to be raising its head. This I think is a cuse of concern for both Kalesevich/Parchem and Scott/Dulebohn. All said and done this is a good thing beacuse it will make the competitions much more interesting.
