will Skate America be held in Chicago or roundabouts any time soon?

I *think* I remember reading (I could be wrong) that Skate Americas were moving to smaller venues because they wouldn't sell out the big arenas. (Reading PA is how far outside of PA?) It might be more likely that the event will come to a smaller Illinois or Indiana town. Indianapolis might have a shot and that is only a 2-3 hour drive south.

Providence, RI!! Then they can still get fans in here by train from Boston or NYC.

What small arena does Indy have? I can only think of Conseco Fieldhouse and that IMO is a large arena. Fort Wayne, IN has the Memorial Coliseum which is a decent size for an event like Skate America (and it was just completely remodeled last year), but there isn't much else to do in Fort Wayne. At the same time though, I'm not sure if the USFSA is solely out looking for small arenas to host Skate America. They choose Pittsburgh last year to host the 2004 Skate America and it's being held at Mellon Arena which is a 17,000 seat facility, certainly a large arena.

I just keep wishing and hoping that Columbus will land the US Nationals at some point. :)

Hey, you think Providence is funny....try Worcester, MA at the Centrum Center! It's accessable by every major Mass highway and people can also come from NY and Boston by train. I have heard mumbles that Worcester might try for SA.

no no, let it be providence if it can't be chicago! I'm totally serious here--I went to school there and still have friends there (therefore a free place to crash ;) ) and would soooo love to go back to watch some skating (and, uh, visit my friends and see old professors! :P)

Sorry, I was thinking small markets too - that's why I mentioned Indy. Pittsburgh is a smaller market (relative to NY, LA, Chicago, etc.)

I could live with that - it would be 45 miles for me instead of 12, but hey, it beats the drive to Spokane or Colorado City :D
