According to a published report (http://www.canada.com/vancouver/features/vancouver2010/story.html?id=BB5ADEB9-9B0A-4FAF-883E-6627A9AC13C7) Ottavio Cinquanta has been appointed by the IOC to the Commission to oversee the 2010 Olympics :(

Nope. That just about sums up anything I'd have to say on the matter!!
Well, maybe I might add:
AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH !!!!!! Run for your lives .... Speedy's coming!!!

I hope the IOC reminds Speedy that television coverage of figure skating is important to keeping up interest in it for Olympic years. Speedy's current demand for unreasonable $$ from television networks worldwide means most won't be keeping up with the sport.
And this is the man the OIC put in charge of overseeing figure skating?

And, lol, isn't Chretien's daughter in charge of some part as well? She's certainly Canadian, at least!

At first I thought NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! But then I started thinking. Let's look on the bright side of this - maybe he'll be so busy with this that he'll have to resign from his post at the ISU!
the good thing is that he will be in CANADA.

I've been searching about for a link to a National Post article I read, but can't find it. Basically, Sheila Copps has recruited France Chretien-Desmarais for an important position in the Vancouver Olympics committe. I do not know what role it is exactly, but (as the NP predictable pointed out) it seems controversial despite her work experience (which is v. deep).
