Bowman the Showman. :D Didn't know he surfed, though, interesting.
This thread really makes me feel old. It was just yesterday I was cheering for Chris.

While we're on the subject of Christopher Bowman, can anyone tell me exactly which character he played on Little House on the Prairie. I always thought that he was supposed to be Nellie's little brother during the first years of the show, but I'm not sure. Every time I see some of those early shows, I look to see if anyone could possibly be Christopher but if I have seen him I can't tell.

Just answered my own question. I checked out IMDB and came up with this -
Lost Boys, The (1987) (stunts)
Himself - filmography
NBC Sports Presents World Champions On Ice (1993) (V) .... Himself
1992 Winter Olympics Figure Skating (1992) (V) .... Himself
Kurt Browning: Life on the Edge (1992) (TV) .... Himself
Notable TV Guest Appearances
"Little House on the Prairie" (1974) playing "Benjamin" in episode: "The Sound of Children" (episode # 5.18) 5 February 1979
Does anyone remember ever seeing this episode?

While we're on the subject of Christopher...
I just wanted to set everyone straight.
There seems to be a vindictive person out there who who's determined to try and ruin his coaching reputation. I can tell everyone from first hand experience that there are several stories (rumors) circulating out there, none of which are true! It's hard enough for this absolutely wonderful man to overcome the bad boy image he so proudly exhibited in his skating days. However he is just a hard working dedicated coach trying to make a living on staff at the Detroit Skating Club. He also runs an absolutely fabulous & reputable instructional seminar, he has a wealth of skating knowledge that he's trying to pass along. If you have any doubts or questions about any rumors you've heard go to his official website and contact him directly, he'll answer you personally. www.christopherbowman.e-sk8r.com

The only other Chris listed in the results for the 1992 senior mens event is Christopher Beck--finished 16th, not listed in the results for 1991 or any year post-1992. I don't know of any resource to look for his results prior to 1991, and I don't know anything about this skater. Here's the link to the results, though.

I figured you weren't referring to Bowman in the original post--I can't imagine anyone would think he's been forgotten. :)

Looking at the result list, does anyone know what happened to Colin Vanderveen, Jere Michael and Mathew Kessinger? I remember seeing them on ABC once and then never again. I think Mathew might have skated on a cruise ship one year.

Hey -- nice to know Chris is still coaching in the Detroit area, last I knew he was at Garden City FSC. Sometimes I wish I were back in Michigan and lived closer to Detroit just to get some of that awesome coaching.
He used to write a very informative article in a midwest skating newprint magazine. Can't remember the name of it now, and I used to have a subscription. Don't even know if it's being published anymore. It was a good publication, just a little more biased towards Detroit area skaters.

Jere Michael and Matthew Kessinger both made the ABC broadcast of the 1998 nationals, when they showed the last two groups. IIRC both qualified for the 1999 nationals but didn't do especially well. (Either or both may have been among the several guys who withdrew that year--there was flu going around and I think at least three of the senior men pulled out before the long.) After that I think they both turned pro, and your recollection about Kessinger skating on a cruise ship is correct from what I remember. Michael may have as well.

Pic of Colin and Aren from the Rauschs' page: http://www.gafsc.org/peachclassic/suckerpunch.jpg Some might recognize Colin from The Cutting Edge.
They're both doing well. :)
