I was looking on Amazon today for skating books, and I saw this book coming out next March:
"The Second Mark : The Battle for the Gold Medal at the 2002 Olympics"
Has anyone heard anything about it? Here's the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/074324527X/qid%3D1063687012/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/002-6989445-0328838

Speaking of which, I was looking through the Chapters website the other day and it had that Figure Skating Now book with the date of publication as Sept. 2003. I thought it was a mistake at first, but it looked like it had a new cover. Is this an updated book? Anyone know?

Also, my sister has written a cook book with recipes submitted by figure skaters. It will be out very soon. (As soon as she gets the cover photo)

Sounds interesting Pupiczech, be sure to post about it here when she gets it ready!
There is a new version of Figure Skating Now, updated to include 2003 Worlds.

Anybody find it strange that that book is called "The Second Mark"? I mean, the main argument was over not who had the higher presentation marks, since that is so subjective, but over the fact that B&S got higher tech marks when Anton had the error on the axel, plus the poor catch on the twist, etc. Hmmm...I guess maybe "The Second Mark" sounds better than "The First Mark". :??

cece, I was at Chapters as well, and there is a Figure Skating Now - and Figure Skating Now 2. So yes its a new book done by Steven Milton I believe. I was going to pick it up, but I just had to make sure as well, it wasn't the same book. And its indeed not !! 19.99 isn't a bad deal !

Thanks so much for the info Andrea! My Chapters doesn't have it in the store, and I have to get it ordered. They told me that I would have to pay upfront and I didn't want to not knowing exactly what the book was. Now I'll go get it for sure. :D

Um... IIRC, Sale & Pelletier got the higher technical mark (5.8s and 5.9s compared to B&S's 5.7s and 5.8s, wasn't it?). Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze got the higher presentation mark. The presentation mark is the tie-breaker in skating, if the judge gives the same total score for two skaters/teams.

LOL, that's hilarious because my mom almost got it for me off of Avon, but then found out I had it. Gotta love Avon.
