Any updated news on this skater from Simsbury?

In the April,11th 2000 issue of the Figure Skating Magazine Ice there was an artical on a girl who skates in Simsbury named Kara Shharpe who was trying to make the Olympics. Does anyone know how she's progressing and what she is doing now? Thanks.

The most recent U.S. qualifying competition result I could find for Kara Sharpe (Florida Goldcoast FSC) was 12th in Juvenile Girls Group 2B at 2001 South Atlantic Regionals in October 2000 (top 9 in each of the 2 groups advanced to the Final). Since that was almost 3 years ago now, she probably has stopped skating competitively. It's almost impossible to predict "future greatness" at that young an age and early a skating level (I think she was 11 years old that year?). Kids leave the sport for many different reasons -- difficulty in learning the double axel or triples, injuries, family finances, the pursuit of other interests/hobbies/academics, etc.
