View Full Version : Sarah Hughes Threw Out the First Ball...
at the Mets/Yankees game last night. It was the ESPN Sunday Night baseball game (coincidence-I think not).
Sarah wore slacks and a blue striped sleeveless shirt. She had a big smile on her face and was greeted warmly by the crowd. Her toss wasn't so hot (it didn't make it to home plate) but nobody seemed to mind, and the ESPN announcers said she could throw the ball better while wearing ice skates.
I hope she's a Yankees fan; they won 8-0 (knowing Steinbrenner, Sarah will now be asked to throw out the first ball for all future important ball games!).

I wonder if Robin trained her as a pitcher? :D
I saw it too. I was expecting her to lift up her leg like the guys do but she didn't.  Oh well, great for her :)
So I turn on WFAN (NYC sports radio station) to get the tennis results, and they're doing the turning point of the game instead. And one of the broadcasters says (and I paraphrase), "I pick as the turning point Sarah Hughes' lousy first pitch."
New York is one tough town (but I sure do love it).
Yeah but the WFAN announcer probably sucks on skates though! 8)
So Sarah doesn't pitch like a pro ball player--I thought it was kinda funny, but at the same time I don't think she should be ridiculed for it, after all she was trained to skate, not play baseball.
I think it was a better clip than the puck drop at the Rangers game from February.
And to think I would have completely missed this moment if they didn't rerun it during the night! My friend called me on the phone with the heads-up, but I missed it just as I got to the phone.

she's not being ridiculed, they're just joking around. i've heard some pretty nasty things from sports commentators around here, sarah's just being teased. besides, i probably couldn't even make it halfway to home plate so more power to her :)
