That's one thing I loved about the ISI comps in NJ during the 1980's - the fees weren't too expensive and there was pretty much one each month during the season. If you struggled at one comp, there was another one next month and it wasn't budget-busting to try again.

I have no idea how those interp events are judged, but I did like both of your routines!

Hey, everybody! It was nice to finally meet Isk8NYC and Looplover in person, and also see Terri and Skaternum again at dinner last night. I just had my delicious leftovers for dinner tonight. Skaternum, David T. has a vodka nip for you! I'm peeved that I missed all of the competition yesterday, though the students I've coached for a high school mock trial competition were runners-up yesterday at the Durham competition. Terri, I thought you still skated well, especially given the tough circumstances w/the close scheduling. You have such beautiful spread eagles! There's always the next competition. Hope u and all the out of town skaters had a safe trip home!

You didn't tell us that at dinner! Congratulations!

It was great meeting you too and David as well.

I also ran into jwrnsktr at the rink on Saturday and she made me promise to skate with her Tue or Wed! I'm going to try and finish all my work tomorrow so I can keep the date. *promise*

I came home last night to find my husband settling in on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and some rented DVDs. I feel asleep watching "The Office" with him, so I gave up and went to bed. He hogged the entire king-sized bed this morning after I got up, so I think he had a good weekend as well. (kids went to a sleepover last night)

Oh, no -- I retired "Crazy" before I had my surgery. No way I'm skating without arms now! Gotta protect the knee in an emergency. Instead I did my "Airplane Blues" number, with my little stewardess outfit and seat belt buckle (and peanuts stashed in the bra!). Hehe.

NoVa and partner did a really good pairs program. The ordinals were just all OVER THE PLACE in that one.

Dennis has one of the nicest programs of all the adult skaters, IMO. It's beautifully choreographed, and he always does a great job of putting it out there.

Loved getting to meet everyone and say hi to old friends. Adult comps are the BEST!

What a great weekend! I skated almost the best I could skate (flying camel, we are NOT friends anymore!) and ended up 7th which I was really happy with. My goal was top half and I got no ordinal lower than 8th and I got 2 5th ordinals. I'm glad I have 2 months to really ramp it up for the open event at ANs. I'm just thrilled to pieces for Julie, though. She deserved to win. As always, it was great to see NoVa and the crew.

Champ Masters Jr/Sr ladies has a new force to be reckoned with!! Devon Dillon is awesome. She landed some strong double axels in the 30 minute warm up, but didn't do it in the program. She didn't need it and everything else was strong and clean. I can very easily see her winning at Nationals.

I had a fantastic time, and was proud of my friends for their awesome performances and proud of myself for skating my best in freestyle and compulsory (and not so bad in interp).

It was so cool to see the high-level ladies, men and pairs skate in the flesh instead of on my little 3 inch view screen on Icenetwork - I was blown away by so many of the skaters. This is going to sound corny but it was really inspirational.

And of course it was great to finally meet Terri C. I missed Isk8NYC (maybe next time??) but got to meet Amy Entwistle, who gave 2 of the best performances I saw all weekend in addition to all the hard work she had put into the competition.

Now I'm really tired and ready to sleep for a few hours before heading to the rink at 5:45 (I'm trying to psych myself into this by typing it. I hope everyone else had as much fun as I did!!

PS - Devon Dillon was indeed amazing - what a pleasure to watch!!

Ross,
Here are the results:
1. Alan Emerick
2. Dennis Palaganas ( dcden!!)
3. Stephen Trzaska (NoVa!!)
4. Liam Cowper
5. Marty Romanick
Because of the fill up rule, all 5 will be going to AN. There were only 5 Champ Gold Guys at Pacs and 2 at Mids.

I think we both have this flying camel curse that has affected us at NYI and sectionals, and the only thing that can cure it will be some chili peppers at ANs. I shall not forget them this time.

Agreed. I am looking forward to the awesomeness that is the chili pepper. If I can get it good and consistent, I think we'll change the flying camel to a flying back sit. I did some the other day that weren't bad and with 8 weeks to get it, I'd rather do that than the flying camel. I was told that the flying back sit was a level 2 spin as well.
