If this is going to be the rink, then - wow!

I believe there is a permanent ice sheet under the arena, so I guess the two hours is just to uncover it. I wonder if it is a bit chilly in there for normal concerts though

I don't think it will be ever open as a public ice rink though unfortunately. However, there is going an ice rink for up to 200 people in the circley bit round the main arena that has all the cafes, shops, restaurants etc. See here for a piccie!

That is great news about the O2 arena (Millennium Dome) - am delighted that it looks as though it is now in the hands of capable and inspired management - yes there is life other than as a casino or a white elephant.

Go for it, O2 arena!! And the opening concert is only a few days away, June 24!

Well, that's definitelly a step up compared to the rink I manage - at least it doesn't have a wall in the middle!

Ours is 200-people capacity rink and we have patch, hockey, and our LTS rogramme is as busy as the one at full-size Altrincham rink - we issued over 160 certificates last time!

Not about skating, but I just saw in Metro newspaper that O2 Dome opens on 24 June 2007 as part of Greenwich and Docklands festival. There will be several stages with music, theatre and performance art. If you can get to the O2 aka Millennium Dome (North Woolwich), it should be a very entertaining day. A link at: http://www.londonlogue.com/places-to...ival-2007.html (see "Out of the blue" ... "bungee choreography" wow )
